I would love one in a Superlite Roadster or even in a MR2

If your looking to just use the Ecotec and Getrag tranny in another car as a engine/ tranny swap, look for the 2.4L Ecotec...Its basically the same as the 2.2L, but has about 30-35 more HP

They did not have the 2.4L in 2003 when I had my Cavalier, but I can just imagine what 30 extra horse would have done!

a 944, huh? hmmmm..... what else would you look into? im just wondering..... some kind of sports car, right? you should look into datsun z cars, or better yet something like a datsun 510 ( http://images.turbomagazine.com/tech...enger_Side.jpg ).... the lil econo cube that started the whole import craze, & they dont get ANY respect.... but they have a damn find suspention, & you would have PLENTY of room for a 2.4 ecotec & a 5 speed, in a package that has to be at lest a couple hundred punds lighter..... ohh, and dont forget the ford cortina GT (http://www.modmyride.com/images/cars/Picture034.jpg ) my dad had a bunch of em, they could be wickedly fast

Those little 510s are very kewl. I know someone back in LA that had one and dropped an new Nissan engine into it. It was insane.

2.2 Ecotec with a 5 speed would be pretty fun, and from the sounds of it they've got plenty of support too.
I agree completely. The Monte is an amazing car in the snow. I just was not sure what your plans were.

Yeah cars like that are a great suggestion provided I can find a cheap one. Really what I'm looking for is something that I can tinker with while not being something you see everyday, like the WRX's, Civics, 'Stangs, Camaros, etc. Something I can have fun in and if I break something it's no big dealj

I had a 93 eclipse awd gsx turbo 5-speed a couple years ago, the ugliest car I've owned but hot damn that thing could haul @$$!! I paid $400 for it with 192,*** miles on it, I drove the **** out of it til the tranny literally exploded one day. I thought I got shot or somethin til I realized what had happened! I was racin my friend in his V6 camaro when I dropped it into 3rd, dumped the clutch, mashed the gas and then BOOM!!!!!

I don't mind the MK2's but I like the quirkiness of the MK1s better. I'm really leaning towards a 944 at the moment after reading how many people have swapped in LS1's.
