RE: im gonna get rid of it
oh man it sad for sure and is a bad thing but i had problems with an old Z24 like that ones but parked it away for a bit and now i am ready to do a 3400 swap and change all the harness and every problem in one shot !
the best thing to do is just buy a beater car to get you around for now until you can get the cash and patience to deal with it
just hang in there man
i hope you and your monte work out your diffrences !!!!

hey bro ty for that, i did a engine swap too the 3100 that came with it was a massive joke. one i had blew up, bought and built another one it blew up, so i upgraded to a unspecified engine. then the flywheel grenaded and destroyed the tranny during it. and all the blah that comes with it. more or less its poor planning by chevrolet then anything else. by this weekend i will of made my decision on what im gonna do with this thing.

Sorry to hear about your problems with your Monte. My '01 was starting to cost me $$$, that's why it went away. It had 116,000mi, and was time to go away.
This '04 Intimidator SS I got for about half price, low milage, TONS of warranty, and has been virtually problem free. Cost me $30/mo more than the '01. Now you can get a 100,000mi warranty on a GM certified used car, standard, and I wouldn't by another daily driver without it. Not sure that problem would be covered, But I've never had a serpentine belt let loose like you did.
Glad you got it fixed easily. Tough decision as to keep it or not. Nice car, but dependable?
I tried to buy a Honda or Toyota, but couldn't afford a full sized one. Most of what we build is for those 2. Just buy American (or Canadian).

Sorry to hear about the problems, Chris. Please don't let this one car turn you off of allMonte's. I agree with others, just take a break from Monte's for a bit. Get the truck you want and later on a few years from now get another Monte to play with. I'm starting to go nuts with my 76 because nothing is going like I planned. I tore off the vinyl top to track leaks into my trunk and floor pans. Wanted to get body work done around the vinyl top area, my body man flaked on me half way through the job. I planned to get a hole in the floor fixed, but ended up running out of welding wire after the damn welder burned several more holes in the floor. Now after resealing my rear window for the third time, I am still getting leaks... the list goes on.I need a break from my Monte too so I can clear my head and get reorganized so I can actually finish the restoration I've attempted for several years.
