All of my cars thus far have been automatics, but I have test-driven a handful of stick-shifts, like a '97 Prelude, a couple of stick-shift Fieros, and lastly a '98 Z28 and an '04 GTO.
(Drat, I wish I could've bought that Z28; it was purple with white leather interior. Very nice, and a rare color combo!)
Anyway, one thing I noticed, though, is that the smaller the engine, the more likely I would stall it with a stick-shift; but the big LS1 V-8s and their 6-speeds were more forgiving and accommodating to a neophyte manual-driver like me. One time in the GTO, I was going uphill in 6th when I thought I was in 4th, but the car didn't seem to mind at all.
So I do understand why a lot of enthusiast drivers prefer a manual transmission, but yeah, today's breed of performance automatics are a more compelling alternative than ever.

Hi Zach, I think you would like a manual `if you enjoy being involved in driving....I think if you lived in a big city & had lots of stop and go traffic, then maybe not...I love driving a stick shift 4-Sure.
