So I have been thinking about this for some time. I am going to be starting a business. I have decided to file as a LLC (limited liability company) instead of a sole proprietorship for liability reasons. I need to get the business registered and create my DBA (doing business as) before I can apply for my license. I will be running the business out of my house and online and if it ever becomes bigger then I will open a store front. The business name will be Barrett Enterprises if no one else in Oregon is registered as that. I have not finalized my DBA yet, but leaning towards Ochoco Sporting Goods. Ochoco is the name of our local mountains outside of my town. I am going to be operating as a firearms dealer and will have my FFL license so that I can receive and sell firearms. I have always loved guns and feel this will be a good side business for me. I will also eventually be able to sell ammo, full auto guns, and silencers.

Any advice or thoughts from your business owners out there? Things I need to know or do? Questions anyone else may have. Let me know.

Todd, cool man, goodluck with it! I've always wondered what was needed to get an FFL license. I think with your experience and knowledge of firearms that is a great idea.

There is for sure Justin. I am planning on filing the paperwork this week, then the ATF has 60 days to come and interview me.
