40 Beautiful Examples Of Car Photography

By Hongkiat Lim. Filed in Inspiration

If diamonds are womens’ best friends, cars and supercars are certainly men’s. These mean machines are attractive in many ways; the styles (interior and exterior), the speed and even engine sound make them hard to resist. Just because not all of us can own one of our dream cars, that doesn’t stop us from taking the best shot out of them.

Car photography is no easy task. Different techniques are used depending on whether they are prowling on the streets or stay put right before your lens. For amateur photographers, it takes great patience and a lot of practice before you can truly bring out the action and elegance in car photography. Panning shots is one of the most challenging things I’ve encountered while doing car photography. Choosing the background is important; the correct background can either gives your car a clear contrast or it can create significant dramatic effect. You don’t want to have a photo of your car blending into the complex city background or a sports car that looks stationary.
In today’s post, I’ve collected a total of 40 great looking shots of cars and I hope you’ll be inspired. Lastly I’d like to borrow this proverb from Curt Scott:
"A picture may indeed be worth 1,000 words, but one good photograph of your car is worth 10,000 crappy snapshots."
That’s what I thought about car photography. Full list after jump.

Hi Space, there is a knack for getting the money shot for sure. I think the back ground is pretty important for the best representation of your car's image. Some people when putting out pictures for their photo shoot overlook the importance of the viewers thoughts as they ponder the photo and there are dumpsters or tacky images included. It's definitely an art or luck to have the Hell yeah shot there when you go through the 50 photo's you took. Thanks for the cool informative article, pretty insightful.

I agree 100% the backround makes the picture no doubt!
I always try and get new places to get a set of pictures, other wise it would be the same pics everytime!
That's why at meets like High Point where we go there everytime, we take a tonnnn of driving pictures as we crusie from spot to spot, because each one is different!
You can ask anyone at the meet, they all hate me because I'm always trying to move our group around to get the best backround for us
Always turns out good though

In fact, in this pic taken by Joe, In my opinion the best photographer there is,
You can see me yelling at Keane about where we should park haha!

First, I'd say the camera being used makes a huge difference since an SLR/DSLR is typically going to give better image quality over a point and shoot; that's fact. Then, I'd say background (environment), lighting, perspective and angle shot from (i.e. holding the camera level or on an angle at ground level, eye level, bird's eye, etc.), and angle (where your shooting at with respect to the car) are four biggies. For me, black looks much deeper out of direct sunlight so I prefer shooting mine either in the evening or when it's overcast. In my opinion, the quality and feel are better without direct sunlight.

Hi Greg, `Devin, Mod `David & Member's,
I was going to point out the great pictures by `Matt, `Devin & several other member's for their great photo talents, but I was afraid that I would leave a member out. I decided to just let their pictures speak for themselves. I don't have a camera, but I want to get one in my near future & being able to take decent pic's. I've been learning from everyone > Thank You!

The photo's & links I found on the web & I think they have some great information. I hope our member's enjoy.
Below is another link I found & I hope that you enjoy.

The Most Beautiful Cars of 2013

2013 Aston Martin DB9

What makes a car beautiful?
Sometimes it's undeniable--a lissome look, a crushworthy stance, a peerless cabin. In other cases, it's a purity of form that's as close to ideal as possible, given the chosen duty.

We define it both ways at The Car Connection. As we review more than 250
every year, we rate them all across six categories, including styling. Among those new and continuing models, we give only a handful a perfect score of 10 for styling.

This year, the list cars that earn those perfect scores covers some of the most exquisite machinery on the road from Aston Martin, Audi, Maserati, MINI, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Porsche and SRT (nee Dodge). Beautiful? Each one earns the tag, even if some shapes aren't as hormonal or as naturally elegant as other body styles.

According to The
Connection's editors, these are most beautiful vehicles of 2013:2013 Aston Martin DB9
It's been around since 2004, but there's not a line that looks dated on the Aston DB9. The details are the essence of good taste, and it's gorgeous either as a coupe or as a Volante convertible.

2013 Aston Martin DBS

2013 Aston Martin DBS
The Aston Martin DBS is muscular but evocative, the hallmark of a timeless shape. It projects every aspect of bespoke, old-world charm--seen through a modern lens, of course.

2013 Audi A7

2013 Audi A7
The A7's mix of flowing, smooth sheetmetal and chiseled details is graceful and refreshingly different. It's classy and cohesive, and it's among the most beautiful designs on the market.
