How far is your Commute to Work?
Hey everyone I have a job interview wednesday to teach at a small rural school. It would be 4 days a week and 50 miles each way. The road is up through the mountains and can get pretty snowy in the winter, but it is a beautiful drive. How far do you commute? Any advice you may have?

i run about 35 miles one way to work todd, and for around here that's actually pretty close for a good paying job. my dad's been running about 55 one way into jersey for work for the last 5 years now, which is way better than the 85-100 one way he used to run when i was little.
for my drive into work i can choose to run up though the mountian or run down through town, and as far as last winter went i found it to be much easyer to run through the mountians, leaving about 30-40 minutes early "just in case", and just leaving the truck in "4-high" all the way there.

I work in NYC....so no real option of driving into work.
I take an express bus in which costs $5.50 the ride can last between an hour to an hour and a half...on occassion taking it home in the snow it took 3 hours...
In the last 2 years I continue to take the bus into work, over the Verranzano Bridge, and through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel....but coming home I have switched to a cheaper route
I Take the Staten Island Ferry (Free) to the Staten Island Railroad (2.25) to a Local bus (Free Transfer).
Most recently I have been in Brooklyn which means Xbus in/Subway, then Subway/ferry/sirr/bus home.
It can be a nightmare at times,
Joe
EDIT: Oh yeah forgot to mention when I work on weekends, I drive in...takes about 30 minutes...one time I made it in 15.

its either 8 or 10 miles depending what route i take.
If i get out before rush hour ill take the shorty route and get home in 15mins.
If its during rush ill take the longer and it will take about 20mins.
It will take 45Min + if i go the short way at rush.
