Default How do you trash a car?

So I finally get out to Rockford to look at the leather interior of a Monte I was really hoping on buying. As soon as the guy opens the garage door, the near nauseating stench of stale cigars hits my nose. Much to my horror, the smell is coming from the wrecked and partially stripped 2001 Monte SS sitting in his garage. The passenger door is already open, and as I approach the car the stench just gets stronger. I barely touched the door panel and could immediately feel my skin crawling. A quick glance at the once gray headliner reveals nasty looking brown patches, no doubt from the severe amounts of nicotine this interior has been exposed to. There was no way I was buying this interior. Add to the years of smoke damage the fact that the driver seat was pulling away from the side air bag and was torn in the front, there is nothing that will remove the odor.

Now I'm just pissed. First because I can't believe anyone can trash a Monte, let alone any car like this. I mean come on, I take better care of my beater Beretta! I'm also pissed that I drove all the way out there for nothing, not to mention that this moron thought he had something he could sell (his starting price was $350!). I guess the lack of quality photos he provided via email should have been my first clue. Oh well, live and learn!

Smoking is just plain nasty, I did for most my life, and all of my books will forever retain this mistake!! Can't believe how some people treat their cars, maybe I'm just plain ****, but no food or drink even in my ride!! Well, I occasionally drink a soda, but that's me....!!! What an ill fate for a once-beautiful car, I truly believe the 2000-2007 are one of the most well designed body styles ever.

I'm a former smoker too, but never to that degree and now I absolutely abhor it. There were ashes all over the place, and to let it accumulate like that and not do anything just makes no sense. I suggested that he sell the cluster and maybe steering wheel out of it, but even those are going to be infused with the stench of smoke.

I know exactly what you mean Paul. The casino I work at used to allow smoking until a few years ago when the government banned smoking in public places. Including restaurants, bars, and casinos.

I can confirm your comments that the smoke gets EVERYWHERE and is next to impossible to completely get rid of. You would never completely get rid of the smell. At this point, it's right in the foam. The furniture we had at work was like that. All the furniture needed to be replaced when we went no smoking. Couldn't get rid of the smell.

Sorry to hear the guy wasted your time and gas going out there.

I guarantee you the cluster has the yellow nicotine coating inside it. On the clear lens, the overlays, etc...

That totally sucks that guy wasted your time and money - since gas prices are over $4 in the area.

Uh i that stinks when people let their cars get that way. My father owns a F-150 King ranch(saddle leather) and he let that thing get out of shape. Hes a smoker and i hate when he gets in my car and smokes. If he would only treat his truck like his Harley, that thing would be in great shape.

Sorry that the guy waisted your time and gas
