nice one tim, haha.

me i learned what i know from helping my dad. not that i know alot, most of what i know is stuff i've been told and remembered, i can diagnose stuff fairly well & i've always enjoyed learning about anything mechanical.

when i was younger i used to drag home bycycles from the dump and peice them back togeather and sell them for like $10 - 15 a pop, i learned real quick what parts interchanged and what failed, and also learned how to paint something properly ( sand it down & strip off all the old crap then paint & assemble.) then came trying to keep my fleet of mowers running for my landscaping, and my buick resto, my oldsmobile wagon, and then the monte and now the talon too.

I learned how to work on cars by reading on forums (one forum in particular actually), and common sense. It's not hard to work on an OHV motor.

Actually the guys I grew up with and I were always taking stuff apart and then I had to work on all my cranes in the Marines to keep myself and the equipment moving which transitioned into my current proffession with heavy equipment, either road construction or deep tunnel....when you crawl around on that crap all day the Monte's a charm

I've had some fun early on working on a couple cars with friends. I wouldn't call myself learned, though I've done some minor mechanical work in the past. I've been trying to have professionals do all the work on the Monte to have legitimate documentation of work done on it so far. Recently though, I've decided I'll just keep receipts and try to do my own work (or at least, what I'm capable of so far). I just changed my own oil on Sunday for the first time on the Monte, almost forgot how good it feels to do work on my own. I ended up using Castrol Synthetic and a K&N oil filter. Next on my list, is to successfully replace my plugs and wires. I've done it before on a Ford Aerostar, so I figure I'll be fine.

Overall, I'm modest about my mechanical ability, as it's rookie at best. Though with that said, I am definitely looking forward to learning more.
