Okay.. in a "nutshell" so to speak.....

Search engines take key words from your search and search websites for them. Things like AskJeeves where you type in a question... it doesn't read your question(I knew even in Elemenatyr sChool when this was all they let us use it was crap)

Once again, search engines use key words. For example. If you type in "Who is Carrie Underwood?" It omits the "Who" and the "is". These are common words, therefore, they aren't used. The search engine searches the web for the words "Carrie" and "Underwood".

Or if you type in the question "Who is the author of Harry Potter?"

You'll find the name you want, JK Rolling. However, the search engine only used "author Harry Potter" in it's search.

People get mad when search engines don't answer their questions. Well... you can't expect it to. You've got to know your question and know how to find the answer. Instead of typing questions, just type in words that would pertain to what you want to know.

Another example: If you want to know "Why is the sky blue?" You would not type in "Why is the sky blue" It will omit the words "Why is the" and just search for the term "sky blue". You wil probably find alot of references to the color "sky blue". What you should type in is "sky blue science" and hten you will find the scientific reasoning for why the sky is blue.

Hope this helps

Hi `Duane,
Thanks for the condensed version, and good tip's.
I'm self taught on the computer, and I'm alway learning something
every time I can get online.
Thanks for sharing/posting, Oh, hope U R feel'in better 2-day: )
The web always amazes me, and I don't know how anyone
can ever get bored when they can connect to the
Worldwide Web.
I sure wish my brain had a larger computer `chip.
I think my brain is also on a slow dial `up connection
Peace
