Another update for anyone interested:

I'll be going in for surgery tomorrow morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC to basically reconstruct the skin on my thigh. I got the top-notch doctors for this and hopefully I will also come out of this with more motion in my knee! Basically I'm getting a tummy-tuck and they're putting that extra skin/muscle on my thigh so I will actually lose most of my scar.

Wow that is all crazy stuff. Glad to see your doing well and on your way to having this behind you. Maybe you could be on one of those shows like "I shouldn't Be alive" because it sounds like the odds were against you and you pulled through. Good luck and a speedy recovery on your latest surgery.

Another update:
Surgery went better than well and everything came out great. They moved extra skin from my thigh to cover up most of the original injury and were able to remove a lot of the extra bone growth

That's Killer news!

You were/are very fortunate to have had the help from your friends initially, and the added surgerys to help you get back to health...!!!!

Good to hear your also walking unassisted! I can definitely relate!
In 1997 I was hit broadside on my Harley by a drunk driver back in 1997.
Which cause me to lose my left leg above the knee... That was 14yrs ago...
Not a day goes by that I wish it never happened...wearing a prostetic limb sucks!

I wish all the best and glad to know you can walk again !!!!

Prayers and well wishes Bill!
Welcome back!

Haven't updated this in a while so here it goes:

My thigh is pretty much fully healed now, the bone and skin are in great shape and don't need bandaging anymore. I have one more planned surgery next week and that is to remove a calcium build-up from around my knee that's preventing me from bending my knee currently. This surgery should restore most of the mobility in my knee. After this last surgery and recovery, I should be able to get my life back on track fully. I want to thank everyone for their support and good wishes, it meant a lot. Thank you all.
