You need to buy a good radar detector andPAY ATTENTIONwhen you're driving/speeding. (No cell phone, turn down the tunes, LOOK for cops, both ahead and behind.)

Between those two things, I have never even been pulled over for speeding, much less gotten a ticket for it.

Trust me, the various radar detectors I've had over the years have saved me thousands of dollars in fines and insurance premiums, but they won't do you a bit of good if you're not paying attention. With instant on radar, they get you in a heartbeat, so you have to see them first. Fortunately, most cops can't help themselves, and blast everything in site, even with instant on.

Also, not sure where you live, but once in a while here in Ohio you have to look UP, too. The OHP has their own fleet of small planes for clocking traffic/revenue enhancement.
Instant on Radar/Lidar is the best. (I'm going into Law Enforcement) Before a radar/lidar detector can go off I've already clocked the target car. You are right though, most cops will just have their finger on the button and hold it there. My father in law had good experience with that. He boughta vehicle from a friend and paid a premium for the radar detector to be included (I swear this thing would make a cup of joe too) and he was bragging it up and I tried to tell him that in most cases it won't work. He was being pulled over by the time his detector went off. LOL.

For 3 cars (a 1993 Dodge Shadow ES, a 1994 Dodge Shadow ES, and 2006 Monte Carlo LTZ) I'm paying over $1400/year.

WAY, WAY TOO much if you ask me.

So if you're considering AmEx for auto insurance............ RUN as fast as you can the opposite direction!

Just don't get another speeding ticket running from them. [sm=icon_rofl.gif]

And stay away from Progressive Ins.

I have got a few tickets and the last one was for 90 actually, but I just get a lawyer each time and the insurance co never knows about it. But I don't know the laws where you live. I would rather pay $350 now than alot more over a period of time. Now my insurance is thru safeco and it is dirt cheap. $202 every 6 months for full coverage.
