YELLOWKNIFE, Northwest Territories (Feb. 29) - In the subarctic woods of Canada's Northwest Territories, a quiet crowd searches the moonlit sky, a wave of concern creeping into hushed voices. Most of our Northern Lights pictures are taken in Alaska and the Yukon.
The best times to see the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis is in fall and spring. On clear nights these dancing veils of light can be seen and, if active, they can provide some great photo opportunities.

I've only seen them in pictures. I'm too far south to see the Northern Lights.
Useless fact for today: Windsor, Ontario, Canada is the only Canadian city that looks north to the continuous 48 states. Or if you want to look at it this way: Detroit, MI is the only U.S. city in the continuous 48 states that looks south to see Canada.
