Default Happy F-day from GPD

[color=black][color=black]
Close your eyes...And go back...Before the Internet or PC or the MAC...Before semi-automatics and crack.... Before Playstation, SEGA, Super Nintendo, even before Atari...Before cell phones, CD's, DVD's, voicemail and e-mail...go back...way...way...way back...

I'm talkin' bout hide and seek at dusk
Red light, Green light
Red Rover.... Red Rover...
Playing Kickball & Dodge Ball until the streetlight came on
Ring around the Rosie, London Bridge , Hot Potato
Kick the Can, Hop Scotch, Jump Rope, Tag
Duck.... Duck.... GOOSE!!!
YOU'RE IT!!
Parents stood on the front porch and yelled (or whistled) for you to come home - honked the car horn if you were to far away to yell for...no pagers or cell phones
Mother, May I?
Hula Hoops
Seeing shapes in the clouds
Endless summer days and hot summer nights (no A/C) with the windows open
The sound of crickets and tree frogs
Running through the sprinkler or going to the ol' swimming hole
Cereal boxes with that GREAT prize in the bottom
Cracker jacks with the same thing
Ice pops with 2 sticks you could break and share with a friend

But wait...there's more...

Watchin' Saturday Morning cartoons
Schoolhouse Rock
Watchin' Sunday morning oldies (Abbott & Costello, Three Stooges)
Spiderman & Super Man Underoos
Catchin' lightning bugs in a jar
Christmas morning
Your first day of school
Bedtime; Prayers and Goodnight Kisses
Climbing trees
Riding your bike
Swinging as high as you could to try and reach the sky
Getting an Ice Cream off the Good Humor Truck
A million mosquito bites and sticky fingers
Jumpin' down the steps
Jumpin' on the bed
Pillow fights
Sleepovers
Popcorn made on top the stove in a pan
A 21" black and white TV meant you were RICH
Runnin' till you were out of breath
Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt
Being tired from PLAYING
WORK: meant taking out the garbage or doing the dishes
Your first crush
Your first kiss (I mean the one that you kept your mouth CLOSED and your eyes OPEN)
Rainy days at school meant playing "Heads up 7UP" or hangman" or checkers or jacks, in the classroom

Yep GPD----I remember all that stuff. I also remember a healthy respect for a policeman, my teachers, any grown-up and especially my Dad.

How about when a bag of Doritos and a 7-Up were only 25 cents.

I remember when you had to pull over for a fire engine, police car ect. Most of the people dont even move over anymore
You never talked back to mom or dad. NEVER.......
I remember out houses on the farm because we did not have indoor plumbimg
I remember getting up before the sun came up and getting jobs done before you went to school
I remember watching my grandmother mend socks because the money was just not there for new ones.....
I remember sitting at the kitchen table doing home work until mid night or longer if that what it took.......
I remember when it was safe to pull a fake gun out that used caps......

Boy GPD
times sure have changed.... And for the most part I not think its for the better.....

I HOPE EVERY FATHER, HAS A VERY SAFE AND HAPPY FATHERS DAY......
