I'm sure with time that you will adapt & love all the selections of gears : ) LOL
First four gears for POWER
5th & 6th for City Driving
7th & 8th for cruising the interstates @ 1K RPM 4-Super MPG's

Or Reprogam or hit the Transmission `Key for all 8 Gears to be PERFORMANCE & max out in each gear @ TOP RPM's 200 + MPH's WOW

I remember when automatic transmissions only 2 speeds. Remember the Powerglide? Then Chrysler cam out with the Torqueflight that was a 3 speed automatic and everyone copied it. Then we went to a 3 speed with overdrive (4 speed). The 5 and 6 speed automatics have been around only a few years and are all ready old news. For 2012 the new 3.6 L V-6 Dodge Charger is equipped with an 8 speed automatic. The review I have read say it is awesome. If you want to test drive a new 8 speed automatic it is as simple as a ride over to your nearest Dodge dealer. The facelift on the new Charger looks awesome too. Still can't get used to a 4 door Charger. They should have called it a Coronet. IMO.
