Default Great Junk Yard Find

So, the short story is, when bought my '02 Grand Am GT, I wanted the wheels offered below (that happens to be my step-brother's GT in the pic).

What I got were decent aftermarket wheels (as seen in the pic below, sorry this was a couple months ago, too dark right now to take a fresh pic):

Then I learned, that W-body rims fit the '99+ Grand Ams, just the tires don't (99+ Grand Ams had 225/50R16 and a common W-Body size is 225/60/R16). Well, Saturday, at Pull-A-Part, I found a complete set of GREAT condition Grand Prix Torque Star wheels (IMO, best factory wheel for the Grand Prix). I did not have a good way to get them home, so I got them off the car and hid them in two different cars. Came back this morning with the pick up truck and got them ALL!!

Here they are:

And here is one next to the Grand Am:

So, I'm waiting until the current rims need new tires and I will just replace the tires on the Torque Star rims with the correct size. Two of the GP tires are shot (cords showing) and my father is going to get the other two tire remounted on his GP (he's keeping his '98 on the road as cheap as possible).

I'm thrilled with this score. And YES, the bolt pattern is the same between the Grand Am and Grand Prix (I did a test fit at the yard) and offset looks about the same. Looks like that higher side wall is my only problem.

Nice score. I've always liked the GP torque star rims. Although I did like the "chrome" GT rims on my 99 Grand Am GT. Even though they were fake chrome colored plastic covers glued ontop of the standard GT rim. (yes, I was very bitter about that. After GM screwed me for an extra $900 for the optional chrome rims)

Nice score at the junk yard!

LOL, I was sweating they were going to be gone! If I was not pressed for time, I would have hurried back with the truck. It did not help another guy was "eying" those wheels up while I was pulling them. I was tempted to stash them in the Ford or Mopar section of the junk yard. Again, pressed for time, so I tucked them in vehicles that looked pretty "uninteresting" lol.

IMO this generation Grand Am only had one set of good factory wheels offered, I never cared for the rest. The GPs had a couple decent ones. Probably won't be until next spring that I get tires on these wheels.

Great wheel choice! That is the best style of rim that the Grand Prixs came with imo. I have the same rims on my Grand Prix right now. I had mine PlastiDipped but took that off so I could redo it in the spring and I'm not sure I like the aluminum look. Glad mine are only winter wheels and I'm looking forward to spring when the Bullitts go back on! Yours would look really good PlastiDipped I think.

I'm fine with the aluminum look. And I bet these will look just as sharp on my '02 Grand Am as they do on the Grand Prixs

Probably. The aluminum look didn't match the theme I had going on so they will probably look better on yours.
