Shame he became a household name in 1983,
Got his claim to fame with a gentleman named Albert King... In a closed jam session in Canada.
I was fortunate to see him live in 1986 at the Royal Oak music theatre a few years before his passing.

he has some of the most noteable guitar riffs of all time. crazy dude him and kurt kobain died way too young and i often wonder what their music would be like if they had lived on

 

A lot of great ones leave this earth way too early. I think it has a lot to do with all the pressure that comes along with the celebrity status in most cases.

 

DOn't get me wrong, I grew up in high school when "grunge rock" of groups like Nirvana was all new. I firmly believe that if Kurt Kobain did not off himself, Nirvana would NOT be noted in the manner they are today (they are considered almost legendary). They would have rised like they did, plateau, and disappear. The band members may or may not have pursued other projects/bands like they currently did (hard to say). But I think people would think of Nirvana differently. Kurt died at the height of his career.

I know there are a lot of big Nirvana fans, what I said was NOT meant to be an insult, just an observation. Compare them to other bands that had a "new sound" to music and disappeared with out any unfortunately tragedy.

Now a fact they made me feel old, a couple years, Rolling Stone did an article about the baby that was chasing a dollar in a pool on the cover of the Nevermind album. I remember when that album came out, the baby is now over 18!!! Probably 21 at this point. Good grief!!

 

I had the honor of meeting Stevie backstage in '85 when he was doing the Soul to Soul tour. He was and always will be one of my favorite artists. A lot of his songs made it onto the tavern circuit playlists back then too.

 

Stevie Ray Vaughn is one of my most favorite blues artists. I had the great fortune to see his band Double Trouble at one of the big casinos here in St. Louis. I don't know who was doing vocals but they sounded great....Stevie had been gone about 10 years already.

Unfortunately, Stevie Ray Vaughn died in a helicopter crash after doing a concert with his brother in 1990. (His brother wasn't with him in the helicopter)He's still alive today. That's probably who you saw Angie. The name Dbl trouble came from the 2 brothers being together
In Stevies band. Thus he kept the name.. In honor of his brother.

Here's the irony;
He(Stevie Ray Vaughn) had just kicked drugs and alcohol addiction!
Gotten his act together only to perish a few years later!
