GM Underrated The L67?!

Under rating on torque, question is where is this person getting thier numbers and it says nothing about it being at the crank or wheels

Well, many of GM's engines had the power "watered down" for a number of reasons. Including fuel economy. But that was a common thing to do during that era of vehicle production. People cared more about fuel economy than performance.

GM is also known for underrating HP on cars if ANYTHING threatens to have more HP then the current year Vette. They want the Vette to ALWAYS be at the top of the performance hierarchy.
Such as the 1989 Turbo T/A according to GM was something like 240HP, the Vette at the time was like 255HP. A friend of mine that owns a '89 Turbo T/A says he read articles about the car going straight from a showroom to dyno, had numbers beyond 300HP at the wheels. What's the truth of the matter, could never tell you for sure....

Sad part is, there is a lot more then just HP to performance. Such as, I don't expect a Camaro to handle as good as a Vette, I don't expect the Camaro to weigh less then a Vette....
But the ONE thing everyone uses as a default bench mark is, "What's the HP?"

One part of me would like to. Providing there was a dyno somewhere in this crazy town. But another part of me knows that I would be in for a huge disappointment. So it's probably just as well I don't get it dyno'ed.
I think someone a couple years ago posted that the L67 Montes are actually closer to 200 hp at the wheels, stock. Don't think that was the result of a dyno though.
