The shop said I should have it back by Wednesday, which I thought was a pretty quick turn around, especially considering they don't work on weekends.
I had to find a shop on pretty short notice (literally searching for tranny shops on my phone while the tow truck is loading my car up). The one I took it to had a lower price (not the cheapest I found either, but very fair in my opinion) $2,200. I got quotes as high as $3,400 and as low as $1,800. But I really liked this guy, he took me for a tour of his shop, showed me how he does the work, where he does the work, introduced me to everyone that would touch my car, assured me they would cover seats/ carpets/ paint to prevent damage, etc. Had it together, seemed very honest and likable. Plus assured me that they will make ANY updates to the trans as recommended by GM between 06-Current for increased durability. Looked the place up on Yelp and it had 5 out of 5 start with raving reviews.
I'll let you all know how it turns out in the end.
I'll be back on the road heading for 300K soon enough. LOL
And I think the engine has the extra 100K in it easily. woot woot!
That really sucks about the tranny MAMONTE. I didn't know you drove it so much! Hopefully you got a good transmission shop. Every transmission shop in London ON is a bunch of shysters hacks that I wouldn't trust with a oil change.
I glad your getting so help with the tires Tad. My wife works at a VW dealership and even on brand new cars they don't warranty the tires for even 1 km. I think this is crap, but they were the same way at the Volvo/ LandRover/ Jaguar dealership she worked at before. And some of those tires were over $1000 a pop! This actually has happen where someone blew a tire the very day they bought the car and her dealership didn't do a thing for the customer except sell them another! I don't know how those guys are selling car - you'd have to be an idiot. When I recently bought my new Ford (!!!) we discussed this and the salesman laughed - he really didn't believe this was possible. New Fords have a 10,000 warranty on the tires and I imagine GM has similar good customer service...

Good evening mcf! Just getting over a cold right now. Finally feeling better.
Life has been surprisingly good this week! Although the start of it wasnt good.. the wife and I got into another argument.. I got tired of it and walked out. Ive been staying at my best friends house since and its been a blast!
We are both heading out tonight to a local bar with a few coworkers of mine to unwind.
I do feel guilty for walking out, me and her have talked a bit..

Devin:
Glad to hear you are happy with your new exhaust!
I was the same way when I got mine redone...lol
Hope you and keane have a great time.

I think...if memory serves me correctly, I believe so far you have gotten the most mileage out of trans before needing rebuild.
Heres my guess on why you chose the price you did...
Im guessing he's going to do a hard rebuild (replace all the drums bearings
steels etc) Since the band on the od took a crap...probably may have caused further damage than you expected which is good. The $1800.00 was probably what they call a soft rebuild...fluid filter hot flush band cluths etc and still use the old hard parts.. (which Is what I had done to mine).
I'm sure..That you will get easily more than another 100k out of it!
Tad:
Good to hear at least they were willing to split the cost of the tires with you
and replace the battery free of charge... Good Deal!
Jen:
Sorry to hear your still feeling under the weather, I hope all the best for you and the Mrs straightening things out... Enjoy your time out with your buds from work... Just be safe and don't over do it if your driving...

Troubles shot and repaired a serious wiring fault on red today. Everything is running smoothley and I can sleep easy now. Its been a good day, gonna try and keep the weekend going and take a few 300 yarders at the range tomorow to blow off some work week steam.
Yea, I am by no means complaining. I am pretty happy to have gotten the 200K out of my original tranny. And if I'm not the highest mileage on an original 4T65-E....then I got to be a top contender. I know it's rare to stretch this particular tranny for that many miles.
