Good morning everyone!

Monte rim is repaired, just a little corrosion preventing the wheel from fully holding air.

Good Morning EV1!

Mike (03SSLE)
Thanks for starting the Members Daily Blog
Happy Friday and have a Great weekend EV1!

I apologize for being MIA yesterday...

Ended up having to do some work on the Monte... That took a weee bit longer than expected... But its all good now!

I realized that the 5th Gen Monte Carlo has 1 task that is way more than I originally suspected. I generally pay someone else to do this task.

That task is.... Changing the battery! I was going to go to my local auto parts to have it done as I do most every time I need one.. (I have friends that work there)... However, I ended up doing it myself.. Because it was dead as a door nail... Put the charger on it and it read full! Which only meant it had what's called a "Dead" charge... I last put a battery in it in 2011... so it was due anyway...

As you may or maynot know....
The battery sits below the core support bar, windshield fluid bottle, You also have to remove the air cleaner box... (What a pain in the Butt!)

To make matters worse...
The core support bar has 3 bolts that hold it in place ... 2 at one end and only 1 at the other... As luck would have it... The end with the single bolt
Snapped off when I tried to remove it.

After many tries of drilling it out and using an easy out to try to remove it.
It wouldn't budge... My neighbor stopped by and thought he would give me a hand... In doing so.... He snapped the easy out deep inside it.

Ended up pulling the wheel off... and drove a thin punch backwards through the bolt thus removing the broken EZ out... Ended up drilling it out and having to re-tap the hole... The unfortunate part of all of this...
Is now I have an odd looking bolt holding the support bar in place...
So much for being completely stock... Maybe if I paint it flat black...no one will notice it...

Have a Great Day weekend EV1!

Good morning all. Rain again here today. Just played around with the plasti dip for my wheels last night, here is a sample of what the color will look like

Friday, April 18th, 2014-forumrunner_20140418_060551.jpg

At first glance it looks silver but thats a camera trick. If you look close its a nice pearl white. It looks good and I cant wait to get a chance put it on the rims.
