Is Frank working for GM?? Camaro ZL1
So, this is TOTALLY up Frank's ally!! I was at the International Auto Show at the Cleveland IX Center. New thing for GM.... Any guesses???
SUEDE!! Suede trim, suede shift boots, suede inserts on seats, suede shift **** and steering wheel!!
I am focusing mostly on the new Camaro ZL1 (because of the Camaro Club I'm with, I got early entrance and to sit in the car that later was blocked off to the general public). But, I noticed an abundant amount of suede on other GM cars (GM was the only manufacturer I saw really pushing it).
Admittedly, it felt NICE, but I question how well/long it will stay nice on a wheel and shift **** (on a manual shift).
Anycase, here's a couple pics....

ZL1, 580HP out of a supercharged v8, nice custom short throw shifter on a 6 speed manual. Oh yeah, just awesome.
BTW - Fitzpatrick (the GM marketing manager for Corvette and Camaro who spoke to us in the morning) mentioned sadly the ZL1 has a gas guzzler tax. I believe $1300 on the 6 speed manual and $2,600 on the automatic
I believe he said that it gets 13mpg city and 18mpg freeway
Not the best MPG the Camaro has seen

Did any have a suede headliner?
geez I wish i had that kind of work in my monte, i have a donor shift boot now so i can finally make my suede one
I also question how long it'll last, since my steering button trims are already showing a bit a of wear on them :p lol but then again it is only synthetic suede
Badass Camaro though

I know it the "gas guzzler" tax exists, but I don't know much about it (such as if it's state or government mandated and what classifies a car for it). Personally, I think it's kind of a silly tax. People who want a "guzzler" will by it. Besides, doesn't the government get enough taxes off those vehicles each time one rolls up to a gas pump??
