Default found something neat at work today...

so this morning I was picking up trash along the roads at work, spotted a hunk of plastic half buried out in the woods. when I got up close I noticed it was shaped kinda funny, flipped it over to discover it was a 3800 series II engine cover in dirty but good condition as far as I can tell.

i'm thinking it'll be a good piece to bring to a swap meet, just wondering if you 3.8 n/a guys can help me figure out what a fair price would be to ask for it (i'm thinking $40 cleaned up) also if there is any common areas they break that I should check and if there are any different styles GM may have used with different years / cars

It looks right to me, is there a piece of plastic that goes over the little nub on the back

That usually gets lost.

Funny find!!

I know GM had two covers like that one. One was for the W-bodies with the upper front engine mounts and the other was for the H-bodies that did not have them. The H-body cover won't fit the W-body cars without cutting it. I just don't recall the tell-tale differences.

nice find!

Engine covers make great mancave decorations... (better if they are from vehicles you own...)
I got my bonneville's engine cover displayed and my current one displayed until I use it at shows.

which little nub? I did find a little rubber / plastic piece where i'd assume it attaches to the engine that fell off when I tossed it in the truck... it's on my toolbox right now.

cool, thanks for the info man, good to know there are a couple of different styles.

there is a lady who lives right near where I found the cover who has a fairly beat up black 6th gen monte SS so i'm thinking that may be what It came from.

so today I get to add to the engine cover saga... I was sent out again to pick up litter today and decided to swing by where I found the engine cover... turns out the beat up
th gen SS (like an -00-01) lives directly across the street from where I found the cover!

however... now that the snow melted back I noticed some more black plastic farther back in the woods and on the same lot as the cover... walked back and found a complete, unbroken dash bezal / trim piece for a late 90's / early 2000's buick regal ls, along with an airbox and intake tube.

on top of all this, I realized my buddie's dad recently bought the property at a tax sale, so i know who owns the land and am going to walk the rest of the property with my buddie to see if anything else turns up
