Yeah, that's good and bad- the housing market is still in the gutter out here, which is great for us. However, we also missed the April deadline for the tax break for first time home buyers- so that's kinda irritating. Oh well, at least interest rates are still low, and house prices are still cheap- we can still win 2/3 of them!

I'm definitely going to be pushing for a 3 car, no doubt- my other option is getting a 2 car garage with enough room to go 'double deep' (although I'd have to be dead sure the area would allow it before I'd buy)- since really I only need 2 bays that have instant access outside for the daily drivers.

Not working is SOOOO stressful! I know.
I did get kinda lucky- I kept my job back at home until my wife got a job out here (just in case my position did fall through like it did)- so she was able to cover the bills in the meantime. We couldn't be going out eating lobster and steak every night, but living like normal people- we were able to not eat into our house savings and such.

I'll admit, the first couple weeks were a blast- playing all kinds of xbox, surfing the internet, etc- but after a bit, that got old.

I was starting to get nervous not hearing anything back for awhile, and in the last couple weeks- stuff started really popping, I got 4 calls, had 3 interviews (well I canceled the last one because the one job came through)- it just all came together. I was just starting to think that we may end up having to move back to Indiana just so we could both have jobs and could get into a house for once.

Funny thing is, about 3 weeks ago- we went to eat at this Chinese restaurant- it was a buffet, and was really pretty awful. However, my fortune cookie said "A way out of a financial mess is discovered as if by magic!" and I kept that by my computer- and look what ended up happening! I wouldn't say we were in a 'financial mess' in the traditional sense- but we were in a mess where we had money saved up for a house, but couldn't get into one because we weren't both working, and we were living netting 0 every month, not making any money towards a house. So I would still say we were in a sort of a mess- and a way out did appear
