Default Don't update itunes!!!

If you use iTunes for Windows, don't download the iTunes update 11.1.4

It's been causing problems for most, if not all iTunes users in the last couple days since it's release.

It has a problem in it that causes a failed install of iTunes. Upon the failed install, it causes the error message "APSDaemon.exe System Error" With the detailed description "The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

All attempts to re-install will result in the same problem. And the old version becomes un-usable. At first I thought I had a virus. But all scans came up clean. The message boards on apple.com are loaded with users all having the same problem as a result of the latest iTunes update released in the last day or two.

If you did the update like I did, and have this problem now. A system restore to a time before you downloaded the iTunes update will fix the problem.

Hope this helps.
Lou.

Taz:
Thanks for the heads up!
I don't really use ITunes for much of anything... I may just go ahead and completely delete it out of my computer.

Thanks Taz,

I'm like David, I don't really use i tunes that much unless it is time to update my i pod (you need a wide assortment of driving tunes ) and haven't updated my i tunes in quite a while as all I've ever heard of is people having problems after they update, at least with the circle of friends that I run with

Tad... I had never done a system restore before. Never had to. I typed "system restore" into windows help, and the topic came up. Youneed to restore it to an earlier time. Before you downloaded the itunes update. Then let the system restore run it's course. Worked great for me.

But I've also read users on apple's website say they had to go into windows control panel, and remove all software made by apple. Since they use common files. Then you have to download and re-install all the programs you just deleted.

System restore is much easier. So I tried that first. But if you're too far gone, then you'll have to go the re-install route. Or so I've been told.
