Talking don't need to pass emisions

my car is 15 this year my muffler is splitting its sides alittle along the seems. i wanna get some major sound and horsepower upgrade before i start college in the fall. I got accepted into UMASS LOWELL this week i was thinking maybe a res and cat delete maybe straight pipe whats the best for power and sound over stock for cheap. my 157k 3100 sounds nice right now anyways
ive been asked if it's a v8 before some idiots actually think its rwd

Exhaust will gain you nothing for power. I have a flowmaster 40 series delta flow. It certainly makes some nice noise. I could go for more though. Heres 2 videos to give you an idea and it sounds better in person. As far as gaining power, honestly just save your money. With 157k miles and low upgrade options theres just no point in trying to gain power.

I have to agree with Leprechaun93. The 3100 is nice (I'm driving a '94 Grand Am with one), but I would not pour big money into it. Granted, you have to get some exhaust work. I've always had full exhaust swaps done at a place that offered a good deal for true stainless pipes and mufflers (the one on the Grand Am has over 100K on it).

My advise, either just replace the muffler. OR, find a shop that will do stainless from the CAT back and delete the resonator. With a good muffler, you don't really need the res (my Grand Am never came with one, even from the factory). The stainless would prevent you from having to worry about doing an exhaust again.

Outside of that, to get more power out of a 3100, you are looking at 3400 top swap or full 3400 swap. There are small things you can do, but they don't add up to much change.

I dont know where your at but here in mary..land your car has to be 20 years old and then change over to historis tags and only aloud to drive very few miles a year so its not worth me doing it because of the dumb laws .....where r u at?????also with historic tag you are no longer aloud to get repair orders and they can ticket you for something as simple as a tail light bulb being out

according to Mass. inspection laws your exhaust system is up for inspection as well. Even though its doesn't have to have emissions testing you still run a risk of being failed for your falling apart muffler.

That's why I like the fact that I know "a guy" I think he would put an inspection sticker on a cinder block for an extra $20. haha
