Default Done With GM

Well I am done with GM when it comes time to get a new car in the future.

It has been a great ride. I have had great luck with GM, but I refuse to buy an Obama Motors.

That @$$H0LE is ruining everything. It is is not his fault that GM was failing but he allowed the Socialist move of buying GM.

Hopefully he will keep his grubby hands off Ford so that I there will at least be one American Owned auto manufacturer that I can buy from.

Jeff

It is is not his fault that GM was failing but he allowed the Socialist move of buying GM.

Not in my book!!!!!

1. GM WAS NOT ASKING TO BE BAILED OUT.
They asked for a loan. Like Chrysler did in the 1980s. No one heard this message. All they heard was Obama talking about at a bail out.

2. WHERE does the president of the U.S. of A. get off (more or less) making the CEO of a company resign? Until the Obama years started this country as NOT a socialist nation. Obama made it a manitory requirement for GM to get any monies they had to get rid of the current CEO.

GM was in trouble before Obama took office. No doubt about it. Were they given any chance to help themselves out? NO!

So, we have the banking industury, the largest corporation in the U.S., and housing all in trouble under Obama's watch. Is it all his fault? No. Has he done anything to help this country? Not in my book.

All I see is the president doing whatever he can to help himself. (and whoever backed him to get in to the White House)

BUT. We are NOT suppose to talk politics on this web site.

Anything I have said are all personal observations.

Politics can be discussed in the Off Topic section as long as it remains a civilized discussion. There's already a notice about this stickied in this section. (link below)

Didn't both GM and Chrysler ask for bailout money last year? I thought Ford was the only one to not ask.

I should add that GM got bailout money from the Canadian government too. But not anywhere near as much as the U.S.

Personally, I can take or leave Obama. He hasn't done much of anything to sway my opinion of him one way or another yet.

But I think it's unfair to just blame him. The economy had been going down the toilet long before he took office. And it's not all George "dubya" Bush's fault either.

The problem has been many years and decades in the making. With the cost of doing business going up in the US and Canada, many corporations have been moving all their production overseas for a long, long time.

It doesn't take a genious to figure out that if enough jobs go overseas, people here aren't going to have jobs to buy the big ticket items.

Now GM's main problem for most of the 80's and 90's was reduced quality and under-powered vehicles, with premium prices. GM cars have been overpriced for a long, long time.

I just don't like the business plan GM has laid out, or the direction that they are going. I don't want them to be more like Toyota and reduced the product options they have to offer us. I prefered GM because they built excitement. I blame America (and Canada) for not buying into the excitement and choosing boring Toyota's and Vw's (obviously I'm not talking about the great American's and Canadian's who are members of this board!) because of their misleading marketing. But GM has screwed up priorities right now. Example: I think the Camaro is the car to save the company, not the Equinox

I STILL don't understand GM discontinuing the Firebird and the Camaro!! I still see tons of them everywhere I go!! I could understand discontinuing the Firebird so everyone goes for the Camaro, but to discontinue both!?!?!?! I see tons of Mustangs roaming about, so Ford is making some money there! Maybe GM should have just done like I said and discontinued one or the other in the pony car market... if they had just redone the Camaro for '03 and dropped the Firebird, they would probably be better off!! Just because Ford was outselling them doesn't mean they weren't making money!

I think we should all report to our local Chevrolet and Chrysler dealerships and demand that we be given a Camaro and Challenger!! We payed for them with our tax dollars.

One thing the Mustang had going for it was the fact that it was more affordable than the Camaro and Firebird. I agree with you Duane. GM should have discontinued one of them and kept the other.

Jeff as a resident of Illinios I cannot just sit back and allow you to throw knives at our favorite adopted son!!!!!! I've watched this man for years and there is one thing for sure..he only makes a move or decision after it has been well thought out. most of the time it was some one else doing the thinking but non the less his agenda is thought out and he will stand firm even if he has to extend deadlines and make deals and so on.
the situation our country is in has alot of people hands into it as well as a ton of very bad decisions by our leaders on both sides. Ford never asked for help, GM asked for a loan to carry them thru.. a loan! when and where it became a bailout I can't say but it doe's fit the agenda of the currant administration.. Obamas not bright enough to carry this himself but with those around him it works....Its not his fault this oppertunity feel into his lap. Gm should have filed. busted the contract sold off the lagacy dedt and reached a new agreement with what was left of the union. alot of people are dirty here ...even more have been hurt . lost jobs, income, we lost several car lines and we are picking the pockets of future generations and Jeff thats change you can believe in.......

Haha true.
Keep making cars, Americans don't want to buy.
