Good morning guys. 24 degrees this morning. Supposed to be another nice day. We've actually seen the sun every day since Sunday.
Another one of Detroit's historic buildings, the 93 year old Metropolitan Building, is back to life after sitting vacant for 40 years (and slated for demolition at one time). A full $33M restoration is just wrapping up and the building will soon reopen as the Element Hotel.
And restoration + new construction at the 1400 block of Woodward Ave. is also wrapping up. The building will reopen to the Public early January as the Shinola Hotel. This building is adjacent to what will be the new Hudson's development.

Wow this is Great to be able to save this and bring it back to functional after so many years. Great project.

Good morning guys, 6 days til Christmas! Going up to 45 degrees today. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it's going to be a white Christmas for us this year.

It really is remarkable what has been done, not only to these two buildings I mentioned above but with all the historic building restoration and new construction that has happened, or is currently happening, in the City. Here's a couple shots of the restored exterior facade of the Metropolitan Building. It's on a pie-shaped lot in the area of Downtown that retained the City's original radial street layout.
Good morning everyone, hopefully everyone is ready for the holiday season. Great pictures of the historic building Matt, I have worked on quite a few here in Mn for our historic society. I can say it not all fun and games as sometime what is expected isn't always possible. But at the end of the project it make ya feel good that you saved some history. I got the day off from work today so my plans are too hopefully get a few pictures for the December photo contest and probably puttz around with my Fiero . I will probably pull the head and look for the crack, need to get it fixed so I can sell it to continue on the Monte. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning guys, 35 degrees this morning. Supposed to be getting some rain today and rain/snow tomorrow. So much for having a clean car, although I'm surprised I got 4.5 dry days in a row at this time of the year.
5 days til Christmas, lets get festive! Here's a shot of this year's Christmas tree in Downtown Detroit.

Good morning guys. 38 degrees and light rain this morning.
Wife and I were just here this past weekend. Rochester, Michigan's 'Big Bright Light Show' which runs nightly from mid-November to New Years Day. Features over 1.2 million lights.
