I have never had a problem with any of the inmates. I don't think that's the same thing as getting along with them though. I am not here to punish anybody. I think that's the mistake that a lot of people fall for when choosing this job. The inmates' punishment is the confinement. I am here to enforce facility rules and ensure that the inmates (and the facility) are safe from each other.

When it comes to this... This is a dangerous question to answer. While I maintain my personal beliefs about the crimes that these people are convicted of, I am not the person who sentenced them. There are a LARGE NUMBER of correctional officers who dwelled too much on this very question and ended up in some sort of trouble themselves.

Absolutely. While I cannot get into any specifics, rest assured, these are BAD PEOPLE. There is no society that I can think of that would accept the kind of behavior that these people have demonstrated. While it may not be the most glamorous or appreciated job in the world, it is definitely necessary.

I hope this answers most of your questions. Keepin' it real...

Well time to call it a night. Heading iver the mountains to my grandfather's house to help my mom and aunts finish going through stuff. They are sorting what they want to keep and what will be sold in the estate sell. I will be back monday evening, will try to hop on periodically this weekend.
