People around the world have gotten hit with unusually cold weather. In June, children in Johannesburg, South Africa, woke up to snowfall, a very rare occurrence even in the southern hemisphere's winter season.
It is no wonder that some scientists, opinion writers, political operatives and other people who challenge warnings about dangerous human-caused global warming have jumped on this as a teachable moment.

“Earth’s ‘Fever’ Breaks: Global COOLING Currently Under Way,” read a blog post and news release on Wednesday from Marc Morano, the communications director for the Republican minority on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

So what is happening?

Im not really worried about global warming. We had a discussionabout it in science class the other day. Everyone was like, we are hurting the earth and causing global warming. I asked why people thought this and I got blank stares followed by a pause....... then a response, well because we just are!

Anyway, I think the earth is a big boy and it will take care of itself. Sure the pollution from us isnt good, but with past history, I dont think anything is happening that hasnt happened before. We blame ourselves for global warming and say the cold spells are an effect of pollution and global warming. Well, who's fault was the ice age then? Hmm? We definately werent around to cause that one.

No I dont really read up on global warming so I may not no my stuff, so correct me if Im wrong, but I still dont think we are entirely to blame for the changing climate.

 

If I remember correctly, scientists have found patterns like this before. Where the average temperature increases for a period of like, 50 years or something, by a couple of degrees, than drops again

 

global warming...maybe it will keep up so i can grow oranges in my back yard... i live inPA haha too bad its freezin and we got like 6 inches of snow damn global warming anyway

so the world warms up... that means more evaporation. more evaporation means more percipitation (or rain), more rain means places that once couldn't grow crops can now grow food... more food means less starvation in the world.

where is the loser in this scenario?

 

Well what about the polar bears? If the snow melts in the arctic, then all 5 of them that are left might die! I love that arguement. Dont worry we already have 4 of those 5 in zoos. They have a better chance of increasing the population there than they ever would have in the arctic.

 

Wow. That is alot of ignorance and "Well I thought I heards". Thats like saying it's ok to hit your kids because the body heals itself and the bruises go away.... I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

But I do agree that the earth will heal itself. They had an episode on the Discovery Channel yesterday describing how the last Ice Age was caused by a volcano... same as the Dark Ages. But yeah, that won't be an inconvenience in my life.

I think we need to start controlling what we are doing and how we are getting our energy, but I think there are more responsible ways of doing it than clamping down on everything.

I'm proud of the area I live in because they are throwing up Windmills left and right here. It stops the need for creating coal plants.We should also invest more money in solar towers like they have in Spain and Austrailia. It would also be good to add these as an options on homes. In Germany they have the technology to cover one side of the roof and the panals can supply energy for 2 homes. They also have less sunlight there according to the manufacturer on that Discovery episode.

I would personally like to see the development of electric mopeds that can hit 45 mph and can be plugged in. I know alot of people that could use one of those.

 

well seeings as i have been to Germany.
I can honestly say that over there they are doing the wind generators etc... but the solar that you need to work for one home is like the equal to one of those pannels.

Most of the folks that have solar are selling it back to the power companies over there.

As far as globil warming. dose this mean we can toast marshmellows with out the camp fire?
What about side walk smores?


But the thing i would worry most about is not the temp going up (as it would suck anyway I LIVE IN TEXAS) But the water levels goign up enough to make us have to drive monte carlo Submarriens to and from work.
