Chicagoland tinted tail lights drivers beware!!!
A few of my friends and coworkers recently mentioned that they all have gotten pulled over for having tinted tail lights, every person I know who has tinted tails has gotten pulled over so far at least once. I contacted my brother (traffic lawyer) who works the cook county jurisdiction told me they're cracking down on cars with tinted lights as it violates DOT laws and renders the car(s) unsafe to operate. First offense is a $375 moving violation ticket ($429 of you are required to show up to court thus for court fees apply).
But seriously I know 9 people who have tinted tail lights and/or headlights and so far all 9 have been sited. It's 375 per set meaning if your tails are tinted it's 375 for those and if your headlights are also tinted it's and additional 375 for those (separate ticket, but still considered a moving violation) also if your signals or reverse lights are tinted each set gets its own ticket.
My coworker told me he managed to get 4 sperate tickets for having tinted tails, heads, signals & reverse lights totaling $1500 and is a mandatory court appearance required, if convicted (highly probable since my brother told me not a single judge so far will allow to not a single tinted lights ticket regardless if you fixed it or not.) he will have to face a 6 month driver suspension.
Just giving the heads up on Chicagoland owners/operators/drivers as I don't know how it is implied in other states yet. But each ticket costs your liscence 2 points so heads up of you know how the point system works.

Yeah, you can't see my rear reflectors, but that's alright.. I'm really trying to get rid of mine actually.
