Default Car in the shop

Well my check engine light came on and it is still under warranty. I took it in too have it looked at and told them that it is under warranty so do it right. They inspected my engine and found that I was leaking fluids from every gasket lol. The bill totaled $1880 in repairs. On the bright side I am only paying $100 of that and the rest is covered. Down side is now I am driving a POS Impalla that I don't fit in. Seriously could those doors be any smaller?

Sorry to here you don't like the Impala. Those cars are on the W-body platform like the Montes were. They are pretty much a 4 door Monte for the most part.

Hopefully you won't have to be in the loaner for long. At least you've got wheels while your Monte is being fixed.

Glad your only paying a 100 bucks and I agree about short doors on four door cars. I dont think I can ever go back.

I fit in a monte and not an impala cus im tall and wide. im 6'4" tall with a 56" chest 38" waist i have big shoulders. The doors on an impalla are easily a foot and a half shorter.

Well total came to $1940 in repairs. 1400 in labor +500 in parts. was leaking everywhere. They used upgraded gaskets on lower intake. When I pulled out noticed a bumping sound so turned right around and took it back. somehow my axels got bent while it was being worked on so stuck in the impalla for another week. This time it is free of charge.

BTW problems i have noticed with the 2012 impalla. The drive by wire sucks, ****y trans, and it surges under hard throttle. it has 9000 miles 1000 of which were by me so its not a bad engine. The drive by wire is laggy and non responsive. Under hard throttle it surges like the drive by wire doesn't know how much to open the throttle. And the trans shifts are weak and very delayed. After i back off throttle takes a long time to down shift. It will stay at 4k rpm even after i let off throttle.

Needless to say the monte is my last new GM unless they fix the computer issues.

Well rental cars are typically the most barebones trims you can get, often less than the base LS. I wouldn't judge the actual impala so harshly just yet

Interesting the axles are messed up. Wonder if they jacked up or lifted the car improperly. I know I've seen shops bend rear laterals on N-Bodies because of that (happened to the previous owner of my '02 Grand Am and I'll be fixing that in the spring).

As for the lag in the drive-by-wire in the Impala, I've heard some people in non-GM car communities claim that's somewhat common and some PCM re-programming can help get rid of that. I believe the idea is to prevent the car form being overly "abused" by the computer preventing people from out-right romping on it.
