A Happy Birthday goes out to Dale Earnhardt Sr.
he would have been 64yrs old today.
I added a tribute video that I found.






now if you step back 150 days that is my Birthday we were for the most part the same age. He and I looked alike at age 2-3 years, as a teen ager, and all though the days. I have the photo's to prove it.
This Track photo was at Texas in 98, the Tribute Monte Carlo has Dale's likeness airbrushed on the door, and then me leaning up against the Tribute Trailer.

 

Some of us forget..
I'm not one of them..

I cant even begin to imagine what Nascar would be today if he was still around.

He is definitely missed...

Id be curious to see if he gets an honorable mention for the race this weekend... from the commentators during the race.

I know he is missed just from all the folks who will approach me and ask for a picture with them and this is anywhere from on the street to the Race Track. They will probably mention him especially at Talladega he was the King of the Road there.
I have mentioned this before that I met him, quite by accident and it was for me like looking in a Mirror, he was a bit disappointed that I had no idea who he was, but this was in the late 80's, I was a Baseball fan then?!? Besides the races that were televised in my area were usually televised on a different day than the actual run date, sometimes cut short by commercials, so I was more shocked that he looked like me than that he was a famous person. ha
I don't do his autograph, I am asked about that all the time, it wouldn't be proper. However mine is just a cool and I have signed photo's of me!
You 2 do look very alike....

I would have known it was him... So I bet that was a Great experience for you.. How cool was that?

I met the man on a couple of occasions when I lived in NC and he was AWESOME!!!
He is most definitely missed by me!!

 

I usually get a bunch of phone calls from folks I have met and friends that tell me about the birthday.
What I might have to do sometime is create a thread just about this look a like thing, and back it up with photo's. I have this book that I made up back in the 90's and it has photo's for the comparisons, also has the Parents photo's in it too.
Our parents looked similar as well, he was of German decent, and so am I. When I show folks the photo's especially of my son and daughter that look just like Dale jr. and his sister. It will set you back on your heels. Sometimes I meet someone who knew Dale and it just freaks them out! I have been dealing with this for over 25years, and I would have thought that folks would get over it, but they haven't, I am still very cordial, some actually go into tears. That can be difficult to deal with, most of the women hug me and cry. It seems to help them some.......

your not trying to impersonate him..you merely look like him naturally
I would maybe research some foundation Dale related and use what you have to help others... you never know what maybe around the corner...

 

Once in a while I am asked to go to a Car show or an event of some sort. I usually try to make sure that they include some sort of Charity that can benefit, for instance if you take a photo with me or of me with your Car, girl friend, etc. Give a free will donation to the Charity they are sponsoring, so far Wounded Warriors, Make a wish, Burn Victims, Diabetes, and Crisis Pregnancy center, there were a couple of other local ones too.

The one that really brought me down to tears was in 2003-04 this friend of mine calls from Omaha, NE, he has a neighbor with a child who is Terminal with CA. He wants me to come down and meet the kid and drive him around in the #3 Car that another friend owns.
So I said maybe I can add something to it, (let me call you back). I am on the phone to several folks I know in the local Racing crowd. Got in touch with a fairly popular Track near Omaha and made arrangements for this boy to be the Guest of Honor at that Track and get a ride in several race cars everything is Free. For that child and his single parent mom. Called my friend back to inform him. He was stunned that I could do that all by phone when I was driving?! We planned it for a weekend following the one coming up to make sure it got advertised, and the little guy died, before we could make it happen. Well if you have ever been kicked in the you know what, this was 5 times worse than that. That was a teary deal.
So the little guy might be hanging out with the real Dale.
