Surveillance cameras don't bother me. Maybe it's because I work in an industry that requires constant surveillance. As long as the cameras aren't in the bathroom, I don't care if they watch me. I've worked in a heavily surveillance monitored work place for 16 years (I work at a casino). The cameras have never caused me a problem yet. As long as I'm not doing something wrong, I got nothing to worry about.
The streets of London, England have had surveillance camera coverage for many, many years. Londoners are used to it and most couldn't care less about them. The cameras actually help settle who is at fault in traffic collisions.

Disney has surveillance cameras everywhere. I am on those cameras all the time and they don't bother me. I know they are there, why they are there, and who is watching. I don't trust our government. They are not honest with what they do nor their intentions. The government wants all our money and they want to control all that we do. The government will end up controlling all those cameras and that is what bothers me. Our personal freedoms are being taken one by one.

Well, when it comes to government being able to control things, I guess I see it differently. Maybe because of my proximity to Detroit. The local authorities and government can't control that city. And there's no money to install anything. Detroit is broke. Kinda like L.A. is.
OnStar can call Detroit police all they want. The fact is, the cops are out gunned and extremely understaffed. They have a lot more important things to worry about than a speeding ticket or seatbelt infractions.

The only people making money were the suppliers from Phoenix, AZ.
After that whole immigration crap, the city of L.A. boycotted Arizona, especially the camera company.
This whole debacle is so ironic, we are still laughing about it.

And that's the real point. Cities just don't have the man power to enforce the laws we already have. I know someone who got a traffic ticket in the mail (from LAPD I believe) a few years ago. She mailed them back a picture of the money they asked for.
