Anyone else upset with Dish Network/LIN

I`ve been using ShawDirect (formerly StarChoice) Digital Satelitte, in Canada of course, for 4 years. The service sucks. I pay a small fortune - right now its about $90 per month - mostly to make sure I never miss a Nascar race, regardless of which network is showing it. My reception sucks - especially during winter. I had no service for pretty much the entire month of December when the snow on the roof was heavy (ironically, reception came back about 20 mins before NewYears so we could count down with Dick Clark).
Even at $90, I recently scaled back once I discovered Netflix. Everyone knows Netflix? I have that on the PS3, so I can watch on my TV. $8/per month. I pretty much watch movies only anyways. I had the movie channel on satellite before and the bill was coming it at something like $115 per month. Crazy! Netflix is working out well enough that I'd lose the satellite all together if it weren't for Nascar.
And dammit - as I speak the wife's bitchin' cause the dish ain't working again!

I have AT&T Uverse and love it but it is a bit pricey. I've never really had a problem with any cable service I've had. But now with Hulu, Vudu, and Netflix, I am strongly considering just using those and canceling cable service. Google tv looks like a cheap alternative also.

Well now they have given me my local CBS back so I have no quarrel. I have an appt with Comcast for Thursday, so do I stay with dish or move on. I my call dish and ask for a better deal. They might instead of losing me. I was really excited abot getting faster internet, I may also call ATT and see if they can treat me better.

Yeah thats the only downside. I'd miss espn. This last season though I got the NFL Rewind so I could watch all the untelevised Packer games, through nfl.com which was great, lets you watch any game anytime and commercial free in HD and pretty inexpensive. I'm not sure if other sports have a similar offering. Also I would probably get an antenna for all the local channels which are all digital and HD now. I think I could easily replace cable for really cheap.

Agreed. I have cable with my internet and it is $130 something a month. It sucks because you can live without cable/ dish, but I watch way to much tv to give it up.
