Are you looking for portable or in dash like a new head unit? I have owned about 3 Garmin GPS portables and I love them. You can walk around with them because they are compact, the battery life is a couple of hours depending on which one you get and you can use them in multiple vehicles if you get an extra mount and power cord. Hope this helps.

x2 for garmin. they're super easy to use and graphics are great. i have one of the older models that i got a couple years ago on ebay for $125. you can get 'em brand new for around that now (newer models). i've tried magellans in rental cars and i can't stand them. the interface seems more confusing and complicated than the garmins. my brother has a tom-tom (i call it doug-doug) and he even prefers my garmin over that.

I just told Lisa that i wold love to a GPS. She turns around and looks at me a funny. then tells me i like a human map. I kinda have a way of memorizing maps. Its really hard for me to get lost.

Maybe i'll just get a Garmin anyways. Just incase i loose my mind. LOL

I just use my blackberry, has GPS on it. But my sister has a Garmin also, and it got us a few places when we went. It wasn't bad.

I bought a TomTom a year ago. We keep having some minor issues with it. I bought it over the Garmin because of the screen size compared to the equal Garmin. What I dislike the most about it is that it is a European nav' unit, and all the maps are built around Europe and not North America, altho the US is in it. I'm told that the Garmin is American based, and that's not an issue. What's the problem? If I want to travel into Canada, I have to BUY a map from TomTom.
Buy the Garmin.

I usually use the one on my phone for short trips through verizon, but it uses airtime so I don't use it on long trips. I bought a Tom Tom a few years ago when I drove down to Georgia and loved it. It was very accurate and didn't get us lost and was very easy to program. I then returned it when I got back because I no longer needed it, but If I was going to use it more I would have kept it.
