66 and 89 batmobile duke it out on drag strip

That makes sense now. Because I remember watching something on speed channel years ago about the 1989 Batmobile. The stunt man who drove it in the movie claimed it was "a pig". Because it could barely move under it's own power, and had a horrible turning radius.
I remember hearing that Barris' creations were all non-functional cosmetic mods made to look good on screen, but not so good up close in person. The drive train was pretty much all stock. Video of the 60's tv batmobile had to be sped up to make the car look faster than it was. If you saw the Sonny & Cher mustangs on the Barret-Jackson auction about a year ago, you know what I'm talking about.
Which leads me to believe that a race between the real batmobiles would probably have the same result. Just not as fast.
But forget performance. We're talking batmobiles. If I had to be seen driving one of the two, I'd take the 66. It's a classic that always gets positive reactions at car shows.
