2014 Jaguar XK
Fast lineup of coupes and roadsters with new range-topping XKR-S GT. By New Car Test Drive

Hi Member's, do you like it ? I like it, but I'd rather have a New Stingray + is less $'s. I do like the older XKE Coupe's & some of the old ones had 12 cylinders....

Overview
Timeless and stylish, the Jaguar XK traces its roots to 1948 with the XK120. As its name suggests, the XK120 was capable of 120 mph, quite a feat for its day. The first XK was sporty, stylish and classy. Clark Gable drove one. Today's Jaguar XK is stylish and classy, sporty and capable of very high speeds. As with earlier XKs, it comes in coupe and convertible versions.
The 2014 Jaguar XK lineup starts with the Jaguar XK Touring Coupe and Jaguar XK Touring Convertible. Far from basic, the entry-level Touring models come slathered in leather upholstery with heated front sport seats, satellite radio, rearview camera and parking sensors. One step up are the Jaguar XK Coupe and XK Convertible models, which are more luxurious with an even higher grade of leather, more seat adjustments and upgraded audio.
Jaguar XK models are powered by a 5.0-liter V8 that produces 385 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is an EPA-rated 16/24 mpg City/Highway for the XK Coupe, 16/22 mpg for the XK Convertible.
Jaguar XKR models feature a supercharged version of the same engine, with 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque. Jaguar XKR-S Coupe and XKR-S Convertible feature a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that churns out a breathtaking 550 horsepower and has a top speed of 186 miles per hour, making the XKR-S the fastest production Jag ever. A true leaper, an XKR-S can leap from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds, according to Jaguar. The supercharged XKR and XKR-S coupe and convertible models are EPA-rated 15/22 mpg.
New for 2014 is a range-topping XKR-S GT Coupe. Using the same 550-horsepower 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine as the XKR-S coupe and convertible, the $174,000 GT offers and features enhanced aerodynamics and suspension tuning. Acceleration performance is quicker, with Jaguar claiming 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Fat chance getting your hands on one, though, as only 25 units of the 2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT coupe will come to the U.S. They will be as rare as hen's teeth.
In our test drives, we found all the Jaguar XK models solid and stable, even at very high speeds. The 385-hp V8 has plenty of power, while the supercharged versions move the XKR into supercar territory. All Jaguar XK models come with a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters, which we found smooth and tight with rev-matching downshifting.
Ride quality is tough to fault, with an Adaptive Damping System automatically adjusting for ride comfort when cruising along or tightening it down for hard cornering. The more powerful XKR is easy to get out of hand, especially in the more aggressive Dynamic mode, and requires driving with care and respect. All variants of the XK are relatively heavy, but a stiff chassis and precision driving dynamics do a good job handling the weight.
The Jaguar XK runs against tough company, but manages to offer plenty of horsepower and refinement for the money. The BMW 6 Series Coupe is a few thousand dollars less than the XK Touring coupe and boasts classic 50/50 weight distribution, but the BMW has neither the character nor the statement of luxury and exotic sports car that the Jaguar offers. For a few thousand more, you could score a base Porsche 911, if such a thing exists, but forget about any options, unless you want to tack thousands on to the sticker price. Exotics such as the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Audi R8, Maserati GranTurismo Coupe, and Nissan GT-R start in the middle price-wise between the XK and the XKR-S models.

Model Lineup
2014 Jaguar XK models powered by a 385-hp 5.0-liter V8 include the XK Touring Coupe ($79,000), XK Touring Convertible ($85,000), XK Coupe ($84,500), and XK Convertible ($90,500).
Touring models start with leather upholstery, heated 10-way power front seats with driver and passenger memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with multifunction steering wheel controls, keyless ignition/entry, touchscreen interface with navigation, Bluetooth phone connectivity, premium audio with single in-dash CD and satellite radio capability, 525 watts, surround-sound, USB port, auxiliary audio jack, a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, LED running lamps, rear foglamps, auto-dimming power folding mirrors, 19-inch alloy wheels, and an aero pack. Convertibles feature a power-folding fabric top.
Jaguar XK Coupe ($84,500) and XK Convertible ($90,500) get upgraded leather upholstery, 16-way power front seats with lumbar support and adjustable bolsters, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and an upgraded, 14-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 6CD changer. On the outside are a smaller rear spoiler and 20-inch wheels. Options include the Portfolio Pack, which adds a leather headliner, metallic pedals, chrome exterior accents and unique wheels. The Advanced Technology Package adds adaptive headlights and adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning.
Jaguar XKR Coupe ($97,500) and XKR Convertible ($103,500) feature a supercharged 510-hp supercharged V8. In addition to features found on the XK, XKR models add HD radio, adaptive headlights and unique 20-inch wheels. The optional Dynamic Pack adds 20-inch wheels, revised suspension (springs, dampers, lower ride height), a larger rear wing, a lower front aero splitter, rocker sill extension, a rear aero diffuser and red brake calipers. The Black Pack adds different 20-inch wheels, a larger rear spoiler, front splitter and black trim. Standalone options include adaptive cruise control and sport seats are options.
Jaguar XKR-S Coupe ($132,000) and XKR-S Convertible ($138,000) get a 550-hp supercharged V8 with wider 20-inch wheels in a matte gray finish, upgraded exhaust, a sportier suspension, carbon-fiber front splitter and rear aero diffuser, rear wing, heated-only sport seats, and distinctive interior trim, including a leather headliner.
Jaguar XKR-S GT Coupe ($174,000) is a limited-edition model with everything found on the XKR-S Coupe plus additional aerodynamic enhancements, a modified suspension and carbon ceramic brakes.
Safety equipment on all models includes frontal airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, Traction Control, Anti-Lock Brakes with EBD and Brake Assist, active front head restraints, and, for the convertible, pop-up rollbars.

2015 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
By Laura Burstein
On Sale: Early 2014
Expected Pricing: Starting at $184,995

Aston Martin's fastest Vantage was unveiled in Monterey, California, during the week of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
The 2015 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is outfitted with a revised 6.0-liter AM28 V12 engine that makes 565 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque (versus 515 hp and 438 lb.-ft. on the previous model). Aside from the British marque's limited-production One-77 supercar, the V12 Vantage S is the fastest Aston Martin to date, with the company claiming a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds.
From the outside, changes to the new V12 Vantage are subtle. The body is slightly refreshed, most notably around the front fascia. A black, honeycomb-shaped mesh grille insert replaces the chrome horizontal bars found on the outgoing model, swapping elegance for a racier look. Aston reps say the new design was inspired by the CC100 Speedster concept car that debuted at this year's 24 Hours of Nurburgring endurance race. New graphics and wheels also appear on the new V12 Vantage S.
The 2015 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is fitted with a new gearbox, a 7-speed automated manual that replaces the old 6-speed transmission and weighs 55 pounds less. It's the same one used in the V8 Vantage S, and a close variant of those used on Aston Martin's FIA GT racecars. Gears can be shifted via steering wheel-mounted paddles that are wrapped in leather or carbon fiber. A limited-slip differential is standard.
A new suspension features adaptive damping. The front suspension gets coil springs, antiroll bar and monotube dampers, while the rear uses dual-rate coil springs.
For the first time, the V12 Vantage will offer a choice of three driving modes: Normal, Sport and Track. The settings change the firmness of the suspension and adjust the new ZF-Servtronic power-assisted steering system. Of note, Aston Martin still uses hydraulic steering, unlike many manufacturers that have switched to electric. Many drivers prefer the feel of traditional power-assisted hydraulic steering over the new electric steering systems.
The chassis of the V12 Vantage S is lighter than its predecessor, and aerodynamics and airflow have been tweaked to improve cooling and engine performance, aided in part by redesigned air ducts and a new carbon fiber front grill.
Aston Martin claims a 30 percent reduction in noise, vibration and harshness due to new insulation material that's made from 80 percent recycled materials.
Brakes come with huge, cross-drilled carbon ceramic rotors. Forged alloy wheels come fitted with standard Pirelli P Zero Corsa all-season tires; Pirelli P Zero summer times can be ordered instead for the same price.
