Volkswagen Buggy Up!
An Up! designed for the warm California sun.
#3
For some unknow reason, I like the below , but maybe it's because I'm super tired this morning, and it maybe a great ride for running around the beaches & finding the best waves ? Or maybe it's something that would just be FUN
What do you think of it ? Post & let us know or post any car above that you would like or purchase someday ?

<!-- test output end: --><!-- the article, at a glance, downloads, top competitors, from buying guide --><!-- left column -->Who doesn’t still love classic old fiberglass-body dune buggies, particularly the VW-based Meyers Manx creations made by our pal Bruce Meyers? Well, VW certainly still does too, as revealed by the fun Buggy Up! Concept just unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
The Buggy Up!, revealed along with five other Up! Concepts, clearly is all about fun. In short, VW sees it as a 21st century buggy. Instead of fiberglass, though, this open 2-seater is made of lightweight high-strength steel. The chassis has been reinforced, but the running gear is straight from the Up! production car. That means the front-drive Buggy Up! has 1.0-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine with either 59 bhp or 74 bhp.
We like the position of the Buggy Up!’s headlights, and how the front bumper creates a bit of a smile. The hood is fairly flat, and the roof looks like it could have been pulled off a small convertible sports car. Although there are no C-pillars, the Buggy Up! is immediately recognizable by its rear lights, which are like a reflection of the headlights.
The trunklid is made of two pieces; the main part lifts up like a traditional trunk, whereas the section above the bumper folds down, like a tailgate. VW says that heavy and bulky items are easy to carry in the buggy Up! which also has tie-down straps on the lid for luggage.
In profile, the Buggy Up! is a purebred buggy. We love the lack of doors, and appreciate that VW extensively reinforces the body in this area, replete with a rollbar behind the two seats. The open side sills are especially novel—they must heighten the fun experience of open-air driving.
The Buggy Up! is 1.7 in. longer than the standard Up! It’s also 1.2 in. wider than the production car. Eighteen-in. aluminum-alloy wheels do a good job of filling the wheel wells, shod with 205/40 tires.
If the Hot Orange color brings to mind the 1960s, that’s intentional, with the bright color complemented by a rugged gray matte finish on the bumpers and side sills. That gray color also dominates the interior of the Buggy Up, which is completely waterproof, thanks to drains in the floor and seats covered in a wetsuit-like neoprene. The infotainment system is also waterproof. It features an iPod dock with loudspeakers, and the whole system can be removed from the Buggy Up! and used as an external sound system out on the sand!
Cowabunga, dude! (Kowabunga in German?)

I haven't been a VW fan, but I like what they are doing to the Beetle, especially the "R" model...I think it would be fun to drive...Anyone else like it ? What do you think ?
Volkswagen Beetle R Concept - 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show
The masculinisation of the Beetle continues…

<!-- test output end: --><!-- the article, at a glance, downloads, top competitors, from buying guide --><!-- left column -->Today at Frankfurt, Volkswagen took the wraps off the silver and black Beetle R Concept, which looks particularly sharp on its 20-in. “Talladega” wheels. Although just a concept at this point, a sport-tuned model such as this Beetle R—with custom front and rear fascias, plus a tauter suspension and big brakes—would go a long way toward making the new car more masculine, a goal made very clear by VW ever since it revealed the latest Beetle.
Look inside, and you’ll see that the sport seats of the Beetle R concept are upholstered in luxurious Nappa leather, replete with stitched R logos. Far more important is what lies under the hood. There you’ll find a turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter inline-4. VW hasn’t given us the power output of the Beetle R Concept, but it’s worth noting that the all-wheel-drive Golf R has a 266-bhp version of the same engine, while the front-drive Scirocco R puts out 261 bhp. In other words, the new Beetle R, should it ever be built, will have the same performance potential as VW’s other R models.
It’s not known if the Beetle R Concept has front- or all-wheel drive, but we do know that it, like the Golf R and Scirocco R, was built at Volkswagen R GmbH , which is located near Wolfsburg.
The Looks, in Detail
The Beetle R Concept is painted a hue dubbed “Serious Grey,” and the 20-in. alloy wheels boast the same design as the 18s and 19s used on the Golf R and Scirocco R. Moreover, the wheels, which feature a five “triple-spoke” design, do a good job of revealing the big blue R- design brake calipers.
VW designers reshaped the front and rear bumpers, widening each by slightly more than an inch. The front bumper module has three air intakes, painted a contrasting gloss black. The middle intake supplies the engine with air, while the two outer ones help cool the brakes. Also painted gloss black is the front spoiler, which is effectively a big splitter like those used in racing. Vents on both sides of the hood are said to help keep engine temperatures optimal.
The rear bumper also has slots—for exhaust—plus a lower diffuser that teams with a large rear spoiler to generate what VW calls “ideal” downforce values at the rear axle. Two sets of dual chrome tailpipes highlight the look of the Beetle R’s exhaust.
As for the Beetle R’s fenders, they have been widened a little more than a half-inch, and the gloss black rocker sills are complemented by some chrome trim. Also gloss black is the roof, a color which is also used on the upper trunk lid, mirror housings and door handles.
Inside, the driver and passenger sit in racing bucket seats fitted with special pads made of gray nubuck leather. Gloss black is used inside as well, on the dashboard accents and on the decorative trim found around the shift lever and on the R-specific steering wheel. The instruments feature a central cluster with a tachometer in the middle, augmented by auxiliary gauges installed just above the center console. Brushed-aluminum pedal covers, as well as special floor mats and sill plates with the R logo, complete the interior look of this special Beetle
If Volkswagen decides to build a production Beetle R, it won’t happen soon, at least not before the 2013 model year. We certainly like the idea of such a car, particularly a rear-biased awd machine with 250 bhp and a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed paddle-shift DSG…take your pick.
