If it was me the salesman was talking to, when he told me that, I would have considered it a lost cause immediately. Then I would have walked out laughing.

Guess they don't want to sell that car.

i think i got 15000 out of my monte, and it was an 05 tony stewart edition, and i was told my lots of dealers i was lucky to get that, most dealers we're offering me about 4 on trade in for it..but i sold it privatly and got 15,000 for an 05 with 20,000 miles on it, so an 01 should be a lot less than that...and mine was a special edition supercharged...i bet you they paid about 2000 on trade in for that monte or bougt it @ an auction for that

 

I too think they bought the car cheap, or too it in as a trade in so the PO got vey little for the car.

So I sent the sale guy a message telling him why would I buy an '01 at $11,500 when I can get an '05 for the same price with less miles? Since they needed it worse then I do, they can keep it. And to have a nice day.

I got to agree with Duane on the '00 Monte. Still, it's a nice looking car and would be enough for my g/f to drive to work evey day. (MAYBE................. I can even get my car back from her?)

A little strange cause we were planning a trip to Comubus today to look at the room we rented for the july Goodguy's event. A friend said the place we're staying wasn't worth it and maybe we should drive over to check the room out? Just incase we needed to find another place to say?

 

We looked at the two used Montes the local Chevy dealer has today and test drove them both.

1. A dark silver '05 LS. Engine is a 3400 (which I never heard of) with a few accessories on it. Price is $11,500 with 60,000 plus miles on it. This car was kind of a dog out on the interstate.

2. A yellow '03 SS. Engine is a 3800. It performed a lot better out on I-75 and my g/f liked it better, too. The car has 48,000 plus miles on it with more accessories. She wants it a lot but the price is $13,900. A bit high not only for a 2003 but also for the budget we have.

So the search will continue.

RJ.. you got to get the SS. the aftermarket is much beter... if you don't get an SS you'll have to batter yourself over the head in about 2 monhts because you didn't
