i just gotta say that video was fixed. are the older cars considered safe ? NO can a 2009 Malibu go through the STEEL frame of a 1959 chevy that easily ? also NO. the car used in that video was a built replica of a 59 chevy without the steel frame. in a real test the malibu would have only been able to push the fender in to the wheel well the frame being so strong would have stopped it by that point unless both vehicles were running at well over 100 MPH..

this is just my opinion but i dont think the malibu with its recycled pepsi cans for a body would go through an older steel car like that.

 

This article wouldn't be enough to make me give up the classic car hobby. I'd still have a 60's or 70's car with an unsafe interior if I could afford one right now. I'd take my chances driving it to shows and cruise-ins and maybe the occasional trip to work.
I could also die tomorrow from some other, unknown, unexpected threat.

 

I have a padded dash in my 70 Chevelle. radio has small ***** streeting wheel is a custom wheel. I rolled my 2001 F 150 a yr ago. Padded dash and all the stuff never came in to play. The roof was on the passenger seat. if anyome was sitting in that seat then. They would nave been 4 inchs shorter or worst. Every window but the back slider was busted out. Seat back on my side was broke in 1/2 laying on the back seat. Doors wouldn't open 4 of them. I had to do the Nascar thing & climb out. The safety glass cut my pant legs up so bad. I thought they looked target practice. If I was in the Chevelle at that time. Not sure if I would have made it. GOOD thing I had my seat belt on. I was out of work for 2 weeks. The trucker that stopped to check on me. who was right behind me. came up yelling hey Bud you ok????? I said Hell no i;m not ok! He said man you scared the s*** out of me. I said you should have been in here dude!! No one could beleive I walked away from it. I guess someone was watching over me that day. And I thank them...Never go faster then your Gaurdian Angel can fly
