was contemplating going to uti for school, they were offering a full ride scholarship and wanted to know what it would take to get me to come look at their school... they made the mistake of bringing an old cup car to school for all to look at.. i told them i wanna drive it.. they took me to the richard petty experience here in richmond but it was dissapointing... they only let you run 100 and no passing. i told them i loved being in the car at my home track but i had the need for speed.. 2 weeks later i get a call.... hey come to charlotte.. better yet we will get you . so off i go to do the full on experience about 8 hours and 100+ laps total. it was awesome. didnt bring my camera too happy to be there to remember it. got to drive a legend.. they had one of earnhardts actual cars from the mid 90's it was a short track car as the interior cage was red instead of grey for superspeedways but i felt like the man himself.. i made quite a few friends with the instructors and once in a while i meet them here in richmond and play around some after hours with the guys and run about 130 on the track... it also helps to be tight with the right people at the track... i can usually get into the inspection bay and garages with no problems only bad thing is i cant act like i dont work there so no giggling or wetting myself being around the drivers or the machines and absolutely no cameras

Hey Santa, are you still a MCF Member ?Are you still reading my post ?I've been a good boy this year....Below is on my Wish List[:-]I would love to see it under my treeIt would appear that the near-thirteen mile NĂĽrburgring Nordschliefe circuit has a new king.

According to English publication “EVO”, Pagani Automobili and their fabulous Zonda F “Clubsport” – a faster, more taut and powerful version of the regular unit – has finally stolen the long held crown from the Porsche Carrera GT.

Porsche’s $450,000 flagship had reportedly set a lap time of 7 minutes, 28 seconds with the company’s master test driver, Walter Röhrl at the helm in 2004. Meanwhile, shortly thereafter, well-respected German publication Sport Auto was eventually given the chance to set a lap time themselves, and with racing-trained driver Horst Von Saumra at the wheel, the magazine set a ground-breaking lap time of 7 minutes, 32.44 seconds. And thus was a huge achievement, as it was not only the fastest car Sport Auto had ran around the â€Ring, but it was a figure which undercut most other records – save for a few 600kg go-karts.

The Zonda, equipped with semi-slick tyres -albeit completely road legal – and driven by Porsche SuperCup Driver Marc Basseng, set an official recorded lap time of 7:27.82. Though there is still little difference between the Porsche’s manufacturer claim and this one, you’ve really got to hand it to the small Modenese supercar manufacturer. With a small budget and a car boasting relatively old-fashioned technology, they’ve managed to attain the prestige award of saying they having the fastest road-legal supercar on the â€Ring. Such a lap time also undercuts Pagani Automobili’s previous two attempts, both attempted by Sport Auto with the Zonda F and the Zonda S; 7:33 and 7:44 respectively.

What makes this all even more impressive was that the vehicle that was used was generously loaned by an owner(!) and therefore is completely road-legal.

In addition to the lap time’s boast-ability, company founder Horacio Pagani also claims the reason he attempted such was because it marked the 50th anniversary of when the car’s inspiration, Juan Manuel Fangio, won, despite great odds, what most enthusiasts label as the greatest race of all time.

Should you desire to learn more about this glorious achievement, you’ll have to keep an eye out for the November issue of EVO Magazine.

2009 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid - Auto Shows

Chevy becomes the first to hybridize a full-size pickup.

,Nov 07
This is cause to celebrate or a sign of Armageddon: Hybridization has made it to the full-size truck. Say howdy to the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado hybrid. On the heels of introducing another hybrid no one thought he’d ever see, the Cadillac Escalade hybrid, General Motors is using November’s L.A. auto show to confirm its plans to install the same two-mode hybrid powertrain system in the Silverado, to go on sale next year. This we’ve gotta see: a hybrid at the Texas Truck Rodeo. Yee-ha!

A Full HybridAs with the Escalade hybrid and the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid (which we recently tested and generally enjoyed), the Silverado hybrid is a full (two-mode) hybrid. As such, it is able to get on with electric power—up to 30 mph—or gasoline or a combination of both. In the interest of retaining a high tow rating, which is more than respectable at 6100 pounds, as well as a 1400-pound cargo payload, the Silverado hybrid (like all of GM’s full-size-truck hybrids) uses a 6.0-liter V-8 with cylinder deactivation and variable cam timing mated to a 300-volt electrical system that also provides power to the electric power-steering system and accessories. Also like the others, the Silverado hybrid will feature GM’s innovative new dual-mode transmission, which is basically two transmissions in one: a CVT-style “electrically variable transmission” for low-load driving conditions and a four-speed automatic for towing and higher-load driving conditions, either of which can pass the power back and forth seamlessly. The result is a full-size pickup that should achieve some 40-percent-better fuel economy in combined city and highway driving than a comparable gas-only Silverado. We expect its figures to be about the sameas the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid we tested, which is rated at 21 city/22highway for two-wheel-drive modelsand 20/20 for four-wheel drive. With the Silverado’s 26-gallon fuel tank, this gives the hybrid a cruising range of more than 500 miles.

GM’s great wheel of badge engineering spins round and round and lands on Chevy.

Martin Scorsese’s 2004 film The Aviator ends with Howard Hughes blankly repeating over and over to himself, “The wave of the future. Wave of the future. The wave of the future.” We wonder if perhaps there isn’t a lunacy watch at General Motors these days, because it seems as though a group of product planners may be locked in a boardroom somewhere, rocking back and forth and chanting, “The wave of the future, wave of the future,” while admiring photos of their Lambda-platform full-size SUVs: the
Saturn Outlook, the GMC Acadia, and the Buick Enclave.
[Int. boardroom]
Wave of the future, wave of the future! Make one a Buick. And, and, and give one to Saturn! Yes, yes, and we’ll make one professional grade, too! [Excited hop. Planner with tie hanging loosely and shirt untucked whoops and nearly leaves his chair, settles back in, glancing about him. Several people around him pat him on the back.]
[Long pause. Bloodshot eyes search the room, lips are chewed, and clasped handsbusily knead each other.]
