I think that's a croc of $hit, Brent!!!
There is a drag strip over in Roxboro, NC, about a 30 minute drive or so. They do a "midnight madness" every Friday night... test and tune. Long way from Charlotte. And the BudChev would spank the Torino. My Monte Carlo would spank the Torino. Reason being, these modern cars with electronic timing, fuel injection, and just hte modern technology mean that they have horsepower across a wider RPM range than that old 390 does. You've got 4 gears to my 3, and my Torino has a 2.72 rear end gear for cruising. So while I've got 300 horsepower or more, I don't have access to it for nearly as long as these Monte Carlos have access to their 200 or more.

When your car does this, there is some DAMAGE. I think I may have seen this here first, but I am not above re-posting.

That is the worlds fastest high banked 1/4 mile oval, I qualified that night at 16.40 and track record for our FWD's is 15.2. They arent supposee to build their engines but they do. Mine was stock. I only raced it two nights, just wasn't fast enough for me. Sold it. I am looking for a new one for this season. I think we get up into the 60-70mph range down the straight away.

Oooohhh! Cowboy's getting vulgar!
I didn't mean it in a "challenge the Torino" kinda way. I guess what I meant is that I'm a little more interested in the Torino then your Monte. I certainly ment no disrespect to the Torino - I love that car! And it would be fun to take to the strip. You can always tank the results by stroking the BudChev down the track (******* it).
You also have a few months to tune, jack and twin turbo the Torino...

LOL. I don't know exactly what broke, but it definitely stood up on the front tires. I want to say the engine froze at about 7000 RPM.

Neat. Try to replicate that one.
His¸stuff must be strong. I would think most cars would sheer axles, puke gears or even snap transmisson housings before that even could happen. But you may be able to try that with The Beast Greg
