HI,. im a proud owner of a 1988 monte carlo LS .i just spent a lot of money DE-LOWRIDERING the car.new suspension, wheels, tires, exhaust, etc. i bought it just because i love montes. my 1st car was a 1981..anyhow, i know there are ENDLESS possabilities as far as engine goes, im thinking a LS1 swap. ( which is not cheap, but all cars are a work in progress.) my buddy told me to go with a built 350. not really sure on which way to go.i do know that the 305 (boat anchor) has to go. it just isnt enough power. my end goal would be to be able to hang with or beat an old school chevelle. any suggestions or links?? im all ears.. Also im new to this forum.probably shouldve mentioned that first.lol

first off welcome to the forum second if you want real power and your serious about it get a LSX block but you probably dont have the money for one of those lol. but anyways i say go with the ls1 its a good engine with a ton of performance parts made for it. plus there are plenty of ways to get power. build your engine up or go with force induction either or is a good way to get power my ls4 is turbo'd and i love it

Greetings!
Why go through all the hassle of an LS swap? Drop a 383 stroker between the fenderwells instead. The parts are dirt cheap compared to LS parts and you can persuade just as much hp/torque out of it as you would the LS engine.

Thanks for the input all, and thanks for the welcoming . the 350 would definatly be the cheaper way to go, tons of performance parts for those engines. and i dont have to cut out anything, And i did look at an LSX block.. it is not too bad on price,a few months worth of saved paychecks lol . as of right now the boat anchor is still in it.im leaning toward the 350. but who knows, if i can get a good deal on a LS1 ( i doubt it) i am going to ****** it up

HEY: Welcome to a great site & hope to hear more from you. In my Chevelle. I had a 383. I had more then enough power to play with. Thats also a way to go. Plus real cheap to build with plenty of pay off. If & when you can post some pic's we'd all like to see your project from start to finish.

i uploaded pics when i joined. of the new paint and how clean the interior is. but thats just the body. now time for the real work to begin.. those pics i put up. (on here somewhere) was when it was a "lowrider" luckily i saved it from total destruction before they put hydraulics on it.
