I'm little late with the welcome, but I'm a newbie... NICE set of wheels there!! My first Monte was a white 05 LS... I always wanted to do some major modding, but when i owned it, I was in college. Now I have one already done up for me!!
but I STILL want to do additional mods!
I do think that the Dale JR/Stewart rims are VERY NICE... New rims are usually a must to make the car "stand out" and look really "customized". Then of course you want to go your performance way, a CAI and a new exhaust setup is a great plan, so they can hear you coming!!
Good luck with all the mods, and thanks for the pics, keep us all posted!!

@awesome ss: thanks! and yea those things had to go, thanks again to whoever reminded me to do it haha

@#2627: thanks for the welcome! I'm almost thinking about getting my stock rims powder coated black as a temporary mod until i can get the money saved up for new rims. Already in the works to get exhaust quote. You got a nice monte yourself!

In other news: I got a quote the other day for the black rally strips in paint. To get two 10 inch stripes down the hood and trunk, 4 inches apart in center and 1/4 inch pin stripe, the two chevy emblems painted black, and the plastic engine cover painted white, i was quoted 585$. That includes taking the spoiler off and painting under and on top to prevent white areas.

That's actually quite a bit better then i was thinking, and only a couple hundred more than doing vinyl. Only thing was, i wasn't sure if i wanted matte, glossy, or metallic. Any recommendations?

Ohh, never thought of metallic before. I'm kind of liking that choice, second would be gloss. Take that for what it's worth.

Cars looking sharp. When I bought my Monte I informed the dealer no front plate and no dealer sticker, treat me right and people will find out treat me wrong and EVERYONE will find out... of course that came after buying the truck, getting out of the dealership at 10pm and I'm out in the driveway until nearly midnight pulling the individual letters off of the tailgate.

I guess if you go the paint route, gloss would be the way to go. I have vinyl matte black on my Stang, which is nice, but sometimes difficult to keep clean. For a Mustang i thought matte was the way to go, for anything else, I would go gloss or metallic. I prefer vinyl over painting at this point, cuz if you grow tired of the striping you can always remove vinyl quite easily and hopefully have no residue or sunfading.
Would you do the ENTIRE rim in a black powder coating? I'd like a little bit of silver in there, maybe keep the grooves open or around the lip... Black rims are nice, but I wouldn't prefer an ENTIRE black rim. Just my thoughts...

Could you take a moment Pinkly and shoot a photo of the engine compartment? I'm pretty interested in what the 3.9 looks like...??
Bet it looks nice!!!!

@JAFO: Yea i didn't have too much trouble getting them off, i was kind of worried i would struggle. It's definitely an annoying "feature" haha

thanks 3831 beat me to it! mine looks the same for now.

yea i've heard the matte are kind of a pain in the butt to keep clean, but they do look pretty nice. Matte paint would be easier to keep clean but i'm not sure it would have the same effect, mayble i'll search around for some pics. I don't think i'll really get sick of the stripes so i'm not too worried about that. If i do it would probley be time for a paint job by then anyway haha

As far as the rims, supposedly they can do some pretty complicated patterns so i wouldn't be against keeping a little silver in their. I had a couple other people suggest that too.

Hi there, Welcome! I am newbie as well. Congratulations on your new Monte Carlo!!! It looks really good especially with your new exhaust tips. What do you think of the 3.9 engine? I never had a chance to drive one, but always wanted to try it out.

Oh and great idea about painting your rims black. I never would of thought of that. Who knows, that might just work in place of new rims?

thanks geddy and welcome to you too! I like the 3.9 a lot. I do valet for a hotel so i have had a chance to drive some of the 3.5 and i do notice a difference in power, still think i would rather have an SS though haha. Just gonna cross my fingers they come out with more mods for it.

Yea it might work at least temporarily, who knows maybe permanently if i like them enough.
