What's Up From Cali
I found this website last week and I've been hooked reading it ever since. First off, I'm still shopping for my Monte and tryin to figure out if I want the sixth generation or the latest 06-07 and whichever generation I go I'm only goin SS or s/c! I got cash to burn and I plan on really tuning my monte. Anyways all I know is that I am gettin a one within the next month and when I do I'll be all over this forum, you guys got great information here, thanks.

welcome. i have an 06 ss and there is a bit you can do to it. there is a very good turbo kit but with that comes trans work. the sc ones will be a bit cheaper but there are more parts available for that car. in the long run the v8 will be faster, while the 6 will be cheaper. (assuming your not going to dump 8 grand into the modding, so dont get mad at me s/c people)

Welcome to the site. I just picked up a used 05 Supercharged Monte for my daily driver, and I love it. Like inssanity 21 said there are lots of parts on the market to mod the 3800 series 2 engine.

The 3800 Series engine are real solid engines. And they have a really good aftermarket, with plenty of options.
Mine currently had 160,000 miles on it.
If you really enjoy tuning and you get yourself a nice 04/05 supercharged there will be plenty of things you can do and it will be plenty fast. Plus it will be a little cheaper.
Also in the long run if anything goes wrong with the car, using a 6th gen you will have 5 years of production run to find a good parts car, in the newer ones you will only have 2 years of cars on the road.

Hey thanks for the advice everyone, I'm going to think hard before make my decision and I've learned just from reading this forum that the 3800 is a great engine. As far as spending big bucks on 06 tuning, I'm sure I have it it me! When I finally get my dream car I'll be sure to show it off around here. Thanks for the welcomes.
