but tks for posting the recall notice for his year of monte!
Yeah, I can see that it's surely possible to catch on fire, but I don't think if it's just sitting in the garage that it will, only when he goes to start it or if he has an open spark in the garage

I miss hardcore pawn I don't get TruTV here at school

Actually.....the dealer "recommends" that u dont park it in a garage...as the hot oil drops down on the even hotter manifold and smolders and vaporizes...there is a distinct possibility it can catch fire!....

They warn against parking in the garage til you get it fixed....
(the dealer)

THATS WHAT IT SAID ON THE BULLETIN I RECEIVED FROM THE DEALER...

That whole recall is strictly for 3800 v6's, not for the LQ1. Plus, that recall was stupid anyways. I had a fuel injector pop out of the rail while my Monte was running and had gasoline POUR all over my headers and nothing happened. There were a lot of other things that GM could have recalled in their vehicles instead of a leaky valve cover gasket (which is a $13 fix).

Welcome to the MCF. I hope you got your car fixed. As a side note, both engine oil and engine coolant (antifreeze) are very flammable.

Your oil leak is most likely the seal around the oil pump drive leaking. It sits in the valley of the motor at the back so when it leaks it runs down the back of the motor. To replace the seal the back head needs to be pulled so the oil pump drive can come out.
