Default What do you guys think about Slick 50

HI everyone, I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were about Slick 50 oil treatment and transmission fluid treatment. I've used it for years in my hi rev-ing Honda Civic.

Welcome to the MCF family.
Slick 50. Never used the stuff.
I've discussed transmission fluids with lots of tech's. No one has ever recommended anything other than Dextron III or the newer Dextron IV.
L.S Differentials are a different story. Most recommend synthetics with an additive there.
As for engine lubricants, most everyone I know recommends full synthetics, and not just additives. Most feel that Royal Purple is about the best out there (of course, a topic of big discussion in itself). Personally, between my wife and myself, we have about 650,000 mi on full synthetics, and we've never so much as pulled a valve cover, nor do we have any leakers.
I'd save the $$$ spent on additives and just put the good stuff in your crankcase. Here is the list of GM4718M GM registered and approved lubricants. I try to stick to this list, especially if your car is supposed to run on full synthetics, like so many of today's cars are.

GM Approved Engine Oils - High Performance Engine Oil Specifications
GM4718M Registered Products
Revision Date: 1-June-2009
Product Name - SAE Viscosity Grades
76 Super Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30, 10W-30
AC Delco Full Synthetic 5W-30
Castrol Edge 5W-30, 10W-30
Castrol SLX Professional 4718 5W-30
Chevron Supreme Synthetic 5W-30, 10W-30
Coastal High Performance Full Synthetic 5W-30
Kendall GT-1 Ultimate Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30, 10W-30
Mobil 1 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 10W-30
Northland, Synergy Synthetic 5W-30
Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic 5W-30, 10W-30
Pinnacle National Synthetic 5W-30
Q HorsePower 5W-30, 10W-30
Service Pro Full Synthetic 5W-30
Texaco Havoline Synthetic 5 W-30, 10W-30
Valvoline SynPower 5W-30, 10W-30
Warren Full Synthetic 5W-30, 10W-30

Sticking with any of these and your running safe. Look for GM4718M on the label.
(BTW, we typically go 6,000 mi between oil changes)
