VSS location on 04 SS?
I am confused, but nothing new. Some are saying the VSS is behind the speedo head and others are saying its on the passenger side by the CV boot, on top of the housing and if your a contortionist you should have no problem getting to it. Its obvious that shade tree mechs are not supposed to be working on cars anymore.

No real contortion should be needed on this one, its FAR easier to get to that the PS pump is.
Sorry, not sure how to reply exactly, BUT thank you man. I found the VSS and THE GREATEST THING, it was just unplugged... LOL BUT as it being the pain in the a** it is, took it for a test drive, speedometer works, its shifts, BUT NOW the oil pressure is reading ZERO for a few miles, then up to 3/4 on gauge and then ZERO again, so I dont know if I bumped the oil pressure sender or not, but it has oil, man, this gal is really testing me. But like a real gal, Ive put so much into her, I cant afford to get rid of her now, LOL. What do you think on the oil pressure. If its going up and down, that pressure sender as well???
The oil pressure sender is right there in that same area (on the oil filter adapter that bolts to the engine front cover). Id probably double check its fully plugged in first and that the wiring leading to it isn't damaged / shorting from the PS pump issue.
But TBH they're pretty junk sensors, so its not impossible that the sensor itself is going out. The upside is that 3800s rarely have oil pressure issues, so the vast majority of the time, this isn't a true mechanical problem. You can certainly remove the sensor and hook up a temporary mechanical gauge to confirm, but Ive quit doing that and just slap a new sensor in it now. Sensors are only like $15 if you find the wiring is ok.
