Transmission problems
I have a 2003 monte carlo ss with the 3.4 engine with 245,000 miles. Just today it started acting up. When the gear selector is in drive the car wont move but if shifted to first or second it runs fine but third and drive dont work at all. Reverse also works fine. I checked the trans fluid and it is full and not burnt/varnished. What could be wrong?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that sounds like a broken forward apply band which for all practical purposes means a full rebuild.
