Requisite new person post
Hey everyone, just checking in as a new member here. I currently own a 2003 Yukon Denali and am interested in trading it in for a 2006 or 2007 Monte Carlo SS. I'm not at that point just yet - I'm just doing my research now - but I'm hoping to make the change within the next 30 days.
My life is changing at the moment and I no longer need the utility of the Yukon, so I'm looking to downsize and save money on gas, plus I want to enjoy driving again, instead of just being supremely comfortable. Keep in mind that I currently get 14 city and 17 highway, so the SS gets good mileage, IMO. Any improvement over the Yukon is a Good Thing. The Displacement on Demand/Active Fuel Management seems like a good idea (even though it's been around in one form or another for a good while) but I hope it hasn't been giving trouble to any members here. I guess I'll see what turns up in my searches.
I like the grunt of my 6.0 LQ4 engine but after driving a MCSS, which weighs 2300 pounds less, I can see that the 5.3 LS4 has plenty of grunt too. I really enjoyed the test drive I took last month. It was sufficiently fast and easy to control. The salesman got nervous, which is the mark of an excellent test drive.
Anyway, thanks for the platform and having this forum and I look forward to picking your brains & contributing to the community in return. After all, I *am* a true gearhead (I used to drag race with my '94 LT1-equipped Caprice).

Hi `Ghost, and Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family.
It's great to read that you are doing your research/homework on your future investment. There are still some great Monte's out there for sale. I believe that a Monte Carlo is a great investment for your $'s, especially `if they have been maintained & not abused.
What is your dream Monte Carlo ? What year Model/miles etc....Please post your desires, and hopefully our member's can help.
Look forward to reading more about your Denali and it's condition/miles etc...You never know if there will be a member here that maybe interested.
EnJoy the MCF & we look forward to your future posts
Good Luck on finding the right Monte Carlo 4 `you

Welcome to the site. The Monte Carlo has a pretty comfortable interior. It should be a good choice after the denali. Even with the SS you should see an improvment in gas mileage once you get past flooring it all the time just to hear the engine scream.LOL
