Cool Questions about 2007 SS

First off new to this site but not the monte carlo's. Ive owned in the past a 75, an 87 luxury sport lowrider, 2000 ls and currently a 2006 LT. Been looking for an SS for awhile but have a few questions..first off...transmission..is the tranny in the 07 more reliable than the one in an 06?? Ive read all the horror stories of the 06 tranny going out so Im thinking an 07 is for me. Next is the DOD on the SS. I live in SoCAl gas isnt exactly cheap of course and Premium sure as hell isnt cheap out here so I want to know to other 06-07 SS owners does the DOD really help with fuel economy ?? pros/cons of DOD? Sorry if Im posting in the wrong thread just a fellow monte carlo nut who is looking into getting an SS real soon but curious about a few things. Any input much appreciated.

06 and 07's have the same transmission, so a different year doesn't rule out transmission problems. From what I hear DOD doesn't really aid mpg much, and when DOD is still enabled on the car it has a bad habit of consuming oil, so a lot of people just have it tuned out.
